Habitation check
Hi all,
Getting nowhere with a couple of local autosleeper dealers so just after some advice. Our WXL is due its first habitation check next month. With our previous coach build swift I used a local mobile company who were AWS registered and Swift told me that would be fine for warranty.
I cannot get a clear answer from AS, and actually when buying the van the salesman told us that both the habitation check and mechanical vehicle service HAD to be done by a registered AutoSleeper dealer. Now, I can maybe see that being the case with the hab check but surely that’s not the case with the mechanical survey? I didn’t bother questioning it at the time as I couldn’t be bothered getting into an argument with them.
Anyway after contacting them they don’t seem to want to answer my query - just wanted to know if anyone has used an approved AWS habitation service (not AS dealer) and whether that conforms to AS warranty remaining valid?
I’ve had a search and couldn't see any posts but apologies if it has been asked before. I did find someone helpfully posting the mechanical service schedule so I’m pretty confident in saying as with cars that if original parts are used that any garage can perform the 2 year service.

Yes I have mine inspected annually by an independent NCC Approved Workshop, which is sufficient for the warranty purposes. A lot more convenient too, as he comes to me, and cheaper. You can find a list of them here:

I don’t know about non-approved specialists.

Thanks for the reply, yeah the guys I used before were AWS approved and did a good job and as you said they come to you which is much easier than me travelling for an hour. I contacted them but they couldn’t confirm that AS would honour any warranty and to check.
Figured the salesman was trying it on.

You can certainly use an AWS mechanic but you must get clearance from AS beforehand.

Completely agree and don’t rely on any fancy website the company has set up claiming to be AWS registered.
Autosleeper replied to my enquiry within hours confirming a local company I was thinking of using were accredited.

They are listed on the link but curious what contact you used for AS? The website just seems to direct to dealers (which as I say can’t seem to be bothered to reply or call back) and the servicing link on the official AS website gives a 404 error.

Once again I agree Paul, it was a year or two back but thinking about it I simply rang them up!
