Habitation Check
Hi,all
Has anyone tried BC Motorhomes, Ayr or Carrick Caravans, Girvan for a habitation service? We've never had one done before and were thinking of trying either of these.
Thanks.

Re: Habitation Check
BC have now been appointed AS dealers so I would hope they are good.

Habitation Check
Thanks, Paul. They quoted £150. (Carrick Caravans quoted £85, plus time).

Re: Habitation Check
Be aware that a "Habitation check" may be literally just that - i.e. it may just be a safety check, and not involve any servicing or replacement of worn out parts.
Presumably a "Habitation service" is more comprehensive, but is still unlikely to extend to bringing all the habitation equipment to a pristine state.
(I'm not speaking from personal experience, just what I have gleaned from this forum.)

Re: Habitation Check
When comparing quotes its important to remember that you are paying for an inspection not a service. You are paying for time and there are guidelines but not prescription about what is checked.
For instance at the AS service centre the habitation check includes a very includes a very comprehensive check for damp and a full test of all 230v circuitry including the hook up lead and theses are not done by all.
Do insist on having recorded test results for the electrical and gas checks - the trouble is if you don't know what should be looking at you don't know if you have been tested properly and if you do understand you'd do it yourself!!
In any event the gas side of the fridge should be serviced each year and that will be an additional cost.
