Unidentified BEEP
Good afternoon all
So, here is my latest bugbear:
While bowling along down the autoroute at a sweet 59mph in 6th with cruise control on we have heard a beep. This has happened half a dozen times. It is a single short beep. We are not talking Road Runner and While-E-Coyote here. We have read the Boxer manual and the AutoSleeper manual but there is no indication of what it could be.
More information:
The grey water tank and Thetford cassette are both empty for travelling; drinking water no more than 50% full; the flushing reservoir is usually fairly full. Fridge is on auto, gas is off at the bottle. The carbon monoxide alarm sounds completely different.
Is the Nuevo trying to tell me something? Is it the ghost of a past owner who doesn't like my driving style?
As ever, all suggestions appreciated.
Pete

Re: Unidentified BEEP
Wild guess. If it only happens when moving, at 59 could it be speed limiter / cruise control related?

A nice idea, I will investigate but why would it be an occasional occurrence?
Thanks Bargee,

Re: Unidentified BEEP
Silly suggestion, but I had the same in My Nue, turned out to be the smoke detector sounding off intermittently, even when I changed the battery it still happened.
Tomorrow I am at the dealers so will see what they have to say about it

You have a speed limiter via your 'menu' button, not related to cruise control, it just beeps each time you hit the set speed which is in 5mph increments. I tend to forget about it until it beeps at 70 so I've set it at 75 now , it's rare I touch 70 and only on motorways.

Perhaps you only get to 59mph occasionally. Can you go any faster?East of Tanganyika wrote:A nice idea, I will investigate but why would it be an occasional occurrence?

Thanks folks,
Here's my plan:
a] change battery in smoke alarm [which I'd forgotten we have]
b] read all about the speed limiter/menu in the Boxer manual
This could save my marriage.

Re: Unidentified BEEP
Lateral thinking......If on a road with a 130kph limit, drive at that...set cruise at 80mph.
This will do, perhaps 3 things..
It'll shorten the journey time
It'll be great for the DPF and Cat
You won't be able to hear the beep!!!!

Re: Unidentified BEEP
I love this forum.
So, I've discovered that the smoke alarm battery is dead as Dillinger so that is not the beep problem [new battery tomorrow].
Having read Boxer manual I discovered that the speed limiter is on; now it is off. I am looking forward to beep-free days.
Thank you to all contributors especially PaulMold.

I find a speed limiter very useful in France for all those 90km/h limits on urban ring motorways, which are assiduously policed, more so than the 130 limit! It’s better than the cruise control because it works and stays “live” irrespective of braking and variable traffic speeds below 90, so it is worth finding out how to use it. I’m not very used to the Peugeot set up yet but I think it is switched on the same stalk as the cruise control.

Re: Unidentified BEEP
Just checked. As I thought the speed limiter and cruise control are both selected by the left hand lower stalk. The rotary knob on the stalk selects either CC or SLD. The speed limit setting is adjusted on the stalk, up or down and turned on or off by the push button on the end.East of Tanganyika wrote:I love this forum.

On the Menu panel to the right of the dash display you can scroll through and there is a speed beep setting, options being on or off. I have not tested it out but I guess this relates to the speed limiter. You can turn the beep on or off. So it looks as if you may be able to use the speed limiter without the beep!

Re: Unidentified BEEP
On mine and presumably on EofT's (of very similar age) the cruise stalk is just the cruise stalk. We only have the limiter on the Mode button. Later vans have the limiter in conjunction with cruise.
