Engine Oil
Hi All,
Im trying to find out what grade Engine oil I would need to top up my 2022 Kingham,
It's a bit confusing and cannot get hold of a peugeot van dealer to find out,(nobodies answering phones)must be because it's a bank holiday?
Thank you...

Ive read that they don't give handbooks any more, you're expected to download them. Anyone confirm that?glyne lock wrote:0w30 is the grade this is listed in the manufacturers book you should have

Re: Engine Oil
But please bear in mind that the grade is not the most important thing - you need to know the specification that the engine requires. (For example we have a 2005 VW T5 that takes 0W30 grade oil, but that oil would be completely unsuitable for your van, as ours doesn't have a DPF while yours almost certainly does).
Both the grade and the spec should be stated in the handbook.

Re: Engine Oil
It should do no great harm in small quantities, but note that one of the reasons why vehicles with DPFs have a different spec than non-DPF (and in some cases non-catalytic converter) is that they need to be completely free (as much as possible) of additives that might deposit ash in the DPF (soot can be burned off, but ash can't), or might poison the cat.
Hence the suggestion that if you are going to get a small amount of oil, you may as well aim to get an oil with the right spec, rather than any old oil of the right grade but wrong spec. That way you can top up as many times as you like and not need to worry.

Re: Engine Oil
Its written on the Service Schedule I obtained for my van from a local Peugeot dealer. For my engine it states Authorised Engine Oils 00W30 B71 2312 (C1C2) - EM:00W30 B71 2312. It's not in the Basic Guide for the Boxer provided with the van.Paulmold wrote:

Re: Engine Oil
That's taken from Page 16 of the Warranty and Maintenance Record (not the Basic Guide) which on Page 23 states "Only lubricants that meet a PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN standard should be used for servicing your vehicle or for topping-up. The PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN standard to use is mentioned on your servicing summary sheet." I can confirm this is the case. It's odd therefore that Page 16 mentions the standard under the particle filter system.

There is other paper work you get from new with the oil required but people may have thrown this away
It will help if you could explain what the basic guide is as a lot of people may be a bit confusedCaraman wrote:That's taken from Page 16 of the Warranty and Maintenance Record which on Page 23 states "Only lubricants that meet a PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN standard should be used for servicing your vehicle or for topping-up. Re: Engine Oil
Mine came with a 12 page 'Ready to go Boxer' document and a 117 page 'Basic Guide'. There is also an on-line Handbook. None of these give the engine oil spec. Mine also came with the 38 page 'Warranty and Maintenance Record' which referred to a 'servicing summary sheet' which I did not have but obtained from the Peugeot dealer. This is a 1 page A4 print-off specifically for my vehicle by VIN titled 'Service Schedule'.
