Clipboard panel on dash of WXL
Is this panel meant to be raised at all or just left flat? I have seen a couple of pictures that seem to show it in an upright position. I have tried gently to lift mine up but didn't want to force it.

Some lift and some don't it depends on the year of the Van

From memory of mine, it's housing an airbag for centre seat pax when 3 cab seats as vans have, fitted.
Imho find out before fiddling with it!

It's going in for a couple of little warranty jobs soon. I'll ask the dealer, just to be sure.
Thanks for replying.

Re: Clipboard panel on dash of WXL
We had a three-seat van without passenger air bag, and the clipboard panel would raise.
We now have a two-seat van with passenger air bag, and the clipboard panel is locked down.
I suggest you leave well alone.
Clipboards are so passé. Get an i-pad!

Re: Clipboard panel on dash of WXL
In the documentation with my van it is described as a 'tablet holder'. It needs a firm pull at the back (nearest the windscreen) to free it. Once up there is a lever on the left to free the tablet grips.
I have a bit of plastic between the grips to which is fitted the suction mount for my Tomtom. I'll try and remember to post a picture later.

Mine needs a seriously strong pull to lift it up.

I've never tried too hard to lift mine, read too many warnings of airbags. Would love to know if they all lift or just some.

Re: Clipboard panel on dash of WXL
I replaced the fixed clipboard in our 2015 Kemerton with the lift-up version, purchased as an original part from an eBay seller. It was a straightforward change to make but required the head unit to be lifted out to expose two fixing screws. There are 4 in total, Torx headed, but care needed not to drop a screw into the dash.
The change was made to accommodate an iPad mini, which we use for navigation. I wasn’t impressed with any of the display holders available from tech accessory suppliers.
No airbag module visible on removing the original clipboard assembly. I’ll swap it back again if/when we change the van.

I use the clipboard on long journeys to mount a 10" tablet running Google maps, digital Speedo and internet radio - wouldn't be the same without it, great bit of kit.

When I viewed our (not yet delivered) 2019 Kingham I couldn't raise the clipboard, but I called in to Brownhills for an idle mooch around the other day when passing and on a similar Peugeot base vehicle the clipboard opened up when I moved the round knob showing in the left of Peter's image above. Coincidence? Or is that indeed the release catch?

During the handover of our motorhome I was told the clip board on my van does not pull out of the dash. Ours is a 2015 build.

Its not a knob but the cover for a sensor - it doesn't move. The clipboard just pulls up.

Thanks, I guess it just needs a yank then. Which leads me to another related question, but I will start a new topic for that

From memory, particularly with Peugeot, if a passenger air bag is fitted then the document holder does not lift up. I'm pretty sure that this was in the manual.

Replacing that thing with something useful like lidded storage with a phone charging pad inside is on my to do list.

Re: Clipboard panel on dash of WXL
Apparently it depends if an X290 or X250 and if 1 or 2 passenger seats and also if it's got side airbags, all very confusing.Pete F wrote:From memory, particularly with Peugeot, if a passenger air bag is fitted then the document holder does not lift up. I'm pretty sure that this was in the manual.

Re: Clipboard panel on dash of WXL
Funny really, some owners trying to lift document holder and I’ve just stuck mine down with two little blobs of epoxy.
I have a plastic disc fixed to top of mine to which I mount my sat nav holder, found on rougher roads it vibrated due to small amount of flex in flap. Now held much more rigid.I didn’t have any requirement to lift it so nothing lost and something gained.

I have a lifting clipboard unit for sale if anyone is interested in buying it. Original Peugeot/Fiat part.
