1993 Trident 2.0L petrol engine replacement Empty 1993 Trident 2.0L petrol engine replacement

Hi all. Our T4 2.0L petro engine has done 150k miles and is still running ok. The rest of the van is fine too. But even so, I'm getting to the stage where I worry that it will fail big time and need replacing. I'd like to pre-empt this by replacing it with a 2.0L VWpetrol engine from a Golf or similar. Has anyone else done this, and if so, could you give details of where you got the replacement, any problems to be aware of etc?

The best place to ask this question is the uk VWT4forum - there's a huge amount of knowledge there.

IMO it makes most sense to have your existing engine rebuilt if possible, but of course when it fails you won't get to choose how - and some failures are more terminal than others!
