Cab steps
Hi - if, like me, you are lacking in height and have difficulty pulling yourself up into the cab of your motorhome, stress not for there is an answer out there for the vertically challenged. We have just had cab steps fitted to our Auto-Sleeper Nuevo. Check out Essanjay - The Motorhome Specialists in Poole. (www.essanjay.co.uk) This is a family run business and they manufacture cab steps to suit a number of motorhomes. They were fitted in less than an hour - but we had no problems waiting as there is a comfortable lounge with hot drinks available. We live in North Devon so decided to go down the night before. We stopped overnight in a lovely campsite, South Lytchett Manor, which is just 3 miles from Essanjay and handy for our 8.30 am appointment. Fast, efficient, friendly service and the steps are just perfect - no more clambering up for me and, as they come in pairs, even 'him indoors' who is very tall, has found them useful.

Re: Cab steps
We Have the same fitted to our Nuevo previously fitted to our Elddis 115.
transferred to the nuevo in about 30 minutes.
So, seven years old now and still look like new.
Had ours done as I have mobility problems and don't always want to access the van from the rear.

Re: Cab steps
Hi everyone - thanks for the interest/advice.
Breakaleg - we paid £378 for ours (fitted)
Suppersready - I'm 5 feet tall so can say with confidence that your wife would find them very handy.
Paulmold - you are always the 'go to' man and your option certainly trumps ours price wise. Our Nuevo (2018) uses AdBlue and apparently this means that the support struts for the steps themselves had to be made to accommodate the underneath tank - hence the Essanjay option.
regards all,
Ailsa

Re: Cab steps
I wonder if front mud flaps would keep the the step cleaner and if the step would increase their effectiveness?

Re: Cab steps
Probably why mine still look like new, I had mudflaps fitted on the front, I paid the main dealer around £100 fitted, I could have saved some money if i could have fitted them myself.
When we changed to the nuevo the dealer swapped the steps, mudflaps and also swapped the ugly (in my opinion) drinks holder for the cupboard from my existing van free of charge.
My new van has an ad blue tank and as far as I am aware, they didn't have to modify the fixings for the steps.

Re: Cab steps
I had an electric one added to my Harmony under the sliding door back in 2011 foc as part of the purchase deal. It had to be welded as there was room for bolts etc. I had one fitted under the passenger door of my Dorset back in 2003, can't remember the cost.

Re: Cab steps
Hi I have fitted them to our cab and my freinds cab it is only a matter of drilling 3 holes in the sill joint and I used Sika flex to glue under the floor and that was a couple of years ago they are both still solid

Re: Cab steps
Thank you Paul for the link to Devere collectibles on eBay. I enquired if they did them to fit my 2010 Transit based Duetto and had a speedy reply saying they did, quoted £300 delivered. They are specially made.
Although I manage to get into the cab by hanging onto the steering wheel, I am conscious that I am getting older the it will not get any easier! This forum is fantastic! Sue
