Nuevo Tank Blanket Falling Off
Well, nothing good to report i am afraid.
Is yours falling off yet. Worth a check.
Surely only Autosleepers would cut the Tank Blanket so they can mount it half on the outlet bump. In the process destroying the integrity of the protection over the temperature sensor and its wiring. The resulting ingress of water and grime has ruined the adhesion of the blanket.

Re: Nuevo Tank Blanket Falling Off
I’m surprised your blanket lasted that long. Mine fell off a week after picking up the brand new van!
Many different approaches to sticking it back on, it’s a well documented problem. All seem to work well apart from those who took it back to A/S under warranty, they soon fell off again!!
Personally, I used Wickes flooring adhesive spray and it’s still stuck strong 4 years later.

Gorilla glue used to adhere my heat blanket back onto my fresh water tank.

I was going to use Wikes spray adhesive but as I have an open cartridge of Sikaflex 221 I spread a thin layer of that and bedded it in with plenty to seal the A/S hole they created with their cut.

Stuck ours back on with a nice bit of black and yellow hazard warning tape. Can’t tell you if it lasted as we sold the van.

As I mentioned, all of the various fixes that many have tried seem to work well. I don’t know if it’s still an issue on recent vans but I’ve no idea what A/S were using around 5 years ago as it was obvious not up to the job!

I think the blankets are provided with a peel-off backing to adhere directly without having to apply adhesive, obviously it doesn't work.Dbvwt wrote:As I mentioned, all of the various fixes that many have tried seem to work well. Or lack of proper preparation.
I cleaned the tank surface with water and detergent then alchohol as per the instructions, I can't see A/S bothering.

Totally agree marconi, I think I said in a previous post a few years back that preparation was so important for good adhesion.
I also can’t see A/S employees doing anything more than sticking the blankets straight on without prep.

I used contact adhesive on the bits that were peeling away and the last time I looked it was OK. I must check it again.

My tank blanket was sprayed with underseal, along with the rest of the underside, within one week of collecting the new van. That has kept the blanket in place - not that I've ever used it.

Re: Nuevo Tank Blanket Falling Off
when you say obviously it doesn't work .it will not work if not cleaned and had the correct preparation. when the blanket has come away is the surface on the tank still got a shine on it ? YES so has not had the preparation so will not last and will start to fall off as most A/S campers do. yes this was just one of many jobs that had to be done on my own camperPaulmold wrote:I think the blankets are provided with a peel-off backing to adhere directly without having to apply adhesive, obviously it doesn't work.Dbvwt wrote:As I mentioned, all of the various fixes that many have tried seem to work well.
