leaking carver cascade ge
hi just got back home from Anglesey to find I have a leak from the Carver Cascade from the bottom edge of the exterior flue cover, not a large leak at the moment just wondered if someone could give me an idea of where to start looking, is it possible to remove the outer cover without removing the drain plug so I could possibly see where the leak is
many thanks

At this time of year, I would think the most common failure would be a split in one of the inlet/outlet spigots - they are known to become brittle with time, and are easy to buy as spares. I don't ~think~ the drain plug stops you from removing the outer cover, but there are several slightly different types.

BTW, I'm not sure what access from the inside is like on a trophy, but if you can get a mirror or phone camera to look at it low down inside you should be able to see the spigots and might be able to see any leaks.
Don't even think about working on it from inside. I did that on one of my vans, and it was horrible. I then discovered that the same job would have been almost trivial by sliding the heater out of the side of the van a short distance! They really aren't designed to be worked on in situ...
Having said that, another possible leak area is the air relief vent at the top, above the drain plug, if yours has one. They are designed to seal on a quarter-turn but may not seal properly for one of several reasons.

May I suggest that you start by removing the drain plug and examining the rubber O-ring on the plug? It's a well-known source of a slight leak on the Carver.

It's a good point - so common that it used to be possible to buy the O-ring in any good camping shop. Another possible issue is that the plug itself can develop a split in the centre which water can leak through, though on mine this became obvious immediately after a hard winter, not in the middle of summer.

Leaking cascade
Hi
Had a look today with the cover off as Roopert suggested there seems to be a leak from where the pressure relief valve screws into the heater assembly, is there a o ring on there or should I replace whole thing thanks for help mike VWT4

There is no o ring on the pressure valve, removing it is tricky as they become very brittle and will snap off with little effort. This is how I replaced mine.
You need to use several drill bits starting small and increase size gradually until you reach the threads. You don't want to damage the thread so by the time you reach it the remaining bits should be able to be removed using the tip of a screwdriver, clean thread and replace the switch with your new one.

You may well be right about a o ring, it's a long-time since I did job, either way I doubt you could remove valve to replace o ring without it snapping.vwt4 wrote:thanks Paulmold

Old pressure valve removed, yes it broke, cleaned out thread best I could , anyone know what thread size it is? I guess at 14mm but not sure.

I think its 13mm, I cleaned the tread out with a 13mm die by slowly going in and back out each time
