rewire 12v supply to Topaz Fridge

For day trips parking up in my T4 Topaz I would like to run the fridge off the leisure battery rate than use the gas. Has anyone changed the wiring to make this possible?

'Do-able' (is that a word?) I suppose, would be a hell of a drain on the battery, but as you say, for a day only!!

Somewhere would be the relay for switching from 'off' to the van alternator, so its already, in effect, wired, so finding that particular relay

would be a start.

I'll have to get the 'thinking' head on & come back if I can get the one remaining brain-cell fired up

Someone once told me that he ran his fridge on 240v via an inverter as a) it used less power than the 12v element, and b) the 240v element has a thermostat where the 12v one does not.
I don't know about "a" but "b" is true.
He ran it this way all the time BTW, not just when parked up.

The relay is under the bonnet on the front bulkhead next to the engine and leisure batteries.
