broken fridge
i wonder if anyone can help me. whilst away last weekend, i attempted to light the fridge in the peugeot boxer i own. i had to use the gas as no hook up on site. the igniter was clicking and there was gas in the bottle, but it would not light. i assumed it was damp because it looked moist through the sight glass. after a few attempts the igniter stopped clicking. still no flame. i have tried to fix it since but to no avail. i have checked all the fuses i can find and also changed the switch, but still no igniter. any help you can give me would be very helpful.

Re: broken fridge
Did the gas hob burners light?
If so then gas can probably be ruled out.
The glass spyhole on mine always looks as though there is condensation inside.....there may well be!
Not much help I know
Sounds like a fuse doesn't it?

i agree it sounds electrical. i tried the hob, no problem with gas. maybe the igniter has gone. there does't seem to be any power going to the switch.

Re: broken fridge
Don't suppose it could be something silly like the leisure battery down on power.
I recently couldn't light the blown air heating....wondered why it tried to ignite but then dropped out.
Leisure battery was way down on power.......then found it wasn't being charged when the engine was running....
Funny how one thing leads to another!!

Re: broken fridge
Hi there,
I would try the old and tested system of "shut it all down and wait 24 hours"!
Then, making sure that it is ON LEVEL GROUND, and making sure that THE GAS IS SWITCHED ON and the motor ignition IS SWITCHED OFF, I would try again.
Plus, just because you can't see the flame doesn't mean it isn't there!!!
Check the freezer compartment after an hour. If it is cold then the fridge is (and maybe always was) working!
Best regards,

broken fridge
thanks guys, i'm not sure about it being the battery, it seems to be running everything else o.k. i used the leisure battery all weekend with no problems. also it is not a problem with the simple operation of the fridge, i use the fridge on the gas quite a lot, because i use mostly campsites and have never had a problem before. it is not even trying to light. it's got me baffled.

Still sounds like a fuse to me. Is everything else 12v working? As well as the fuses in the zig panel, there are others, under drivers seat next to battery, vehicle fuses in glovebox (may sound daft but it depends where AS took the feed from.

Fridge lighting
I had the same trouble a few weeks ago and took the plastic cover off the outside and removed the jet from the carrier and found it was blocked by a whitish substance I cleaned the jet hole with a pin and reassembled it all and it has been fine ever since.
Regards,
Paul.

As Dutto says, just because you can't see the flame it doesn't mean it hasn't ignited.

I've taken the side panel off but couldn't see how to get at jet. Further advice would be helpful.Paul wrote:I had the same trouble a few weeks ago and took the plastic cover off the outside and removed the jet from the carrier and found it was blocked by a whitish substance I cleaned the jet hole with a pin and reassembled it all and it has been fine ever since.

Our fridge does light on gas but takes ages and many attempts. A clean jet is always a good starting point.

Jet position
Hi if it is the same as mine where the Gas supply goes into the brass jet housing you remove the gas inlet pipe and the jet is a small dished plate held in position by the gas pipe I only found it by accident when I was looking for the reason the gas was not reaching the burner and igniter.

Paul.
