Waste Pipe Shearing Repeatedly
Some time ago we lost the waste pipe completely.
When I replaced it I used a jubilee clip at the waste tank end as I couldn't get a good seal without.
Now I regularly find that the waste pipe has split/sheared just beyond the connection to the tank.
The tap end is carried in the usual clip and there seems to be plenty of play in the hose.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Any idea about cause?
Any thoughts on solutions?
- I've seen the posts about rigid pipes, will have a look at that .
- My first idea was to put a tap onto the tank outlet, ok you have to get under the van to operate it, but seems like it would be ok. Unfortunately can't easily find a suitable fitting.
Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Waste Pipe Shearing Repeatedly
Could be the bounce as the van goes along, with the weight of the water etc.
One tip I do is wind a length of semi stiff garden wire from the tank spout around the corrugated tube, like support spring. Only about 5" or so just to support it and even out that area.
Hope that makes sense.

I've had to replace mine twice but 4 years apart so not regular problem for me.
Are you using the genuine tubing or the convoluted stuff from caravan shops which is used on caravans, which although flexible to a degree isn't flexible enough for your use?

Mine failed within a month of ownership so I replaced it with some better hose.

Re: Waste Pipe Shearing Repeatedly
I seem to remember the original waste pipe on our Duetto was stupidly short so I replaced it after it came uunclipped with a longer new pipe clipped in a more places under the cill.
The old pipe was rock hard and broke the outlet stub off the tank when I tried to remove it. The replacement pipe was a lot more flexible and was long enough to reach the awkward drain points with the tap being under the drivers door.

Re: Waste Pipe Shearing Repeatedly
Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.
I was using the correct type of pipe.
I've tried wire around the pipe to strengthen that end.
I've fitted a slightly longer pipe in the hope that a bit less tension / a bit more play will soak up whatever strain is causing the rupture.
I've packed some spare pipe and fittings.
Another trip planned soon so will see how it goes.

Re: Waste Pipe Shearing Repeatedly
I have replaced mine for the second time with the original type waste hose which is now back in stock at the 'Big White Box'. I also bought the fittings and a new tap. While doing it I thought that I might as well upgrade the freshwater drain system but can't find the correct blue hose anywhere ! Anybody able to help ? AS have the blue but with minimum postage of £5 it's worth waiting till you need something else . I rarely drain my fresh tank through the blue pipe, I pump it all through into waste tank to help give that a good swilling.

On our Duetto we had the waste pipe from the bathroom area spit on its way to the waste tank. I replaced the pipe only for it to split again in no time at all. I seem to remember it was quite close to the nearside rear suspension and had a rather acute bend in the pipe. Third time I allowed a greater curve which sorted it, though I suspect more water stayed in the pipe and bounced around when travelling. Yours might need some cable ties to support its weight when full of water.
Would silicone hose would be the answer, on eBay I see it comes in standard and re-enforced, expensive though.
I wonder for each A-S model if there's a specific part of the water system that's likely to give bother. On our Kemerton XL A-S have used push fit connectors. A while back we were having a few days holiday in Hawes. I filled up with fresh water at home only to find on arrival that a push fit connection had come undone on the journey, all the fresh water will have gone on the road. I have to watch that I don't pull on the pipes when handling the fresh and waste water dump taps

Do you unclip the pipe, I found when I did a load more water came out. Just saying.

My outlet is lower then the tank so all the water drains out on mine
The waste pipe fitted by A/S Looks very poor and gives a lot of problems.so yes needs an up date
