No power to Microwave
Where's fuse? Is there a standard 13amp plug and socket behind the microwave or is it wired in, in which case where to for the fuse.

Re: No power to Microwave
Our Broadway had a 13A socket behind the microwave. There was also an on off switch in the cabinet work below the microwave that could quite easily be knocked into the off position by accident.

Re: No power to Microwave
Thanks, hope the socket is same place for mine. I've put van on hook up for last couple of days prior to going away and the digital display has been on. Today I noticed its not on, strange for fuse to blow if microwave not actually been used but I know where to look now. Hardly use it as it cuts out after 3 minutes , probably due to lack of ventilation but it's useful for porridge. Have toyed with doing away with it and turning the space into a cupboard, either way it's got to come out.

Re: No power to Microwave
Ours is plugged in the microwave cupboard, need to remove microwave to access. Assume it’s on the same circuit as the other 13amp sockets. Are the other 13amp working?

Yes, all other sockets working , that was first thing I checked. Pain to have to remove extractor fan before you can remove microwave.

Re: No power to Microwave
The microwave on our 2014 Symbol stopped working. Removed it (I think I had to remove the extractor first) and discovered that it's connected via a standard 13A plug and socket. The plug had simply come out of the socket. Pushed it back in, reassembled and all was, and is, OK.

On my Nuevo the socket is accessible by removing the vent in the side of the microwave housing.

Re: No power to Microwave
The Kemerton’s microwave has the plug and socket behind it, requiring extractor fan and microwave removal to achieve access. Poor design, it should have been put in an adjacent roof locker.
It may contravene the wiring regs but I haven’t checked. You should be able to isolate an appliance readily in the event of it catching fire.

Re: No power to Microwave
As Flyingv58 said, it's very easy to knock off the illuminated switch in the recess beneath the microwave on a Nuevo. So I presume that there's a similar isolating switch in your model, Paul. Is it still on?

Re: No power to Microwave
No such switch and no vent grill to remove to get access to plug.

Re: No power to Microwave
Ok Paul, here's a pic of my Warwick with the microwave removed showing the socket which powers your microwave.
As above, but here's a sequence...
Remove cooker hood fan, not too hard, lower layer comes off first, accessing screws which secure it.
This gives access to the bloody awful self tapping screws used to hold the microwave in place. How anyone with any form of even diy knowledge far less engineering knowledge thought to do this is beyond me. Remove them, there are 4
Now you can pull the microwave out and access the socket in my pic.
Personally I'd leave the damn thing out and make a useful cupboard as you suggest and others have done. We used it to store bread, this can be done easier!!
If not, google rivnuts and application tool and consider those to refit the thing properly.

Thanks Ian, photo was just what I needed. I have taken the extractor partly apart when I replaced filters so that bit I know isn't difficult.

Re: No power to Microwave
Update - microwave removed, plug not loose, took into house , tried it there, nothing, changed fuse, still nothing , so microwave knackered. Not totally decided if want replacement or to turn space into cupboard. Doubt if AS will have offcut in correct colour - Linneman Cherry - if not then maybe tambour door (wife not keen).

Will Pm you Paul.
There are more self adhesive both venneers, real wood, or wood grain self adhesive sheets than you may realise.
Personally like the tambour door, can be any colour you like.

Re: No power to Microwave
We use the microwave so not thought about replacing it, this is a replacement covering of the bathroom door with sticky back plastic from b and q. It matches our finish.

Re: No power to Microwave
Jenny and Peter- we've decided to stay with a microwave. Have you not had the problem of it cutting out after three minutes or so? As your van is same year as mine, I'm assuming you have no external vent from the microwave cupboard, so what make is your microwave, mine is a Daewoo, I'm trying to find one that gives a bit more gap around the aperture to allow steam/heat to escape. If yours is same model as mine then it points to mine having been faulty and not just overheating as I've been thinking.

Re: No power to Microwave
I think ours is the same, we have not had it cut out yet and I have installed some insulation behind but not close to it
It did take a while to eliminate the rattles though as it is not a very well made model.

Re: No power to Microwave
Same make but different model. So we will just get the cheapest manual microwave we can find and hope it doesn't dislike being in a rather enclosed box. I've already put an extra small vent underneath but not wishing to weaken the structure, I'll put another through the bulkhead panel while the microwave is out.

Paul
We had none of the problems with our one you are having
We had no vents either nor any added insulation.
Probably just the one you had failed.
Vents can only help
