2000 Topaz changing a rear bulb?
Hi all, after a bumpy first month of ownership (oil pressure light, frayed handbrake cable, leaky grey water tank tap) I'm now pretty happy with the old girl.
I have lifted the floor of the OS wardrobe and can see a way to release the OS rear light cluster, but how do I change a bulb in the NS? Do I have to dismantle the toilet panneling?
Any thoughts welcome.
Dean

If you stand at the back with the rear hatch open you will see a removable panel on the nearside between the rear opening and the n/s bodywork. I seem to remember about five screws to remove. Keith

Thanks for this Keith, I'll have a look for the panel this afternoon.

Just to finish this off - there is a tall/slim trim panel on the nearside of my van, as Keith has suggested. Mine has 7 screws holding it in place. This means changing a bulb will take a considerable amount of time.

Just another quick update on this. In fact, if you look in the small cupboard below the basin there is an access hatch (four screws). With this removed you can just see the back of the nearside rear light unit. However, you will need to have long and flexible arms to reach the panel - and be able to undo the three 8mm nuts and the clips, then the locking tabs.
Even with this off, it's pretty awkward to reach around to undo the three nuts - I used a 1/4" ratchet with an extension bar and 8mm socket. For future use they have not been put on too tight and I've added an old BT 8mm box spanner to the on board toolkit.

On my 2003 topaz removed panel by shower working “ blind” put my hand into body and pulled on plastic light cluster which was clipped in no screws or bolts replaced bulb and re fitted . Fiddly job but quite straight forward . This was approx 4/5 years ago refitted panel not bothered with screws as I have had leak problems from fittings on back of shower so check fittings each year ,simple job.

Thanks Hog. Most of the plastic tabs the screws go into are broken off, so it's easy enough to get the panel off!
