Kitchen Mixer Tap
Hi All!
It looks like I've got an impossible task!! I need to tighten the sink mixer tap, it's getting loose on the worktop.
Had a look under worktop but can not see a way to get to it.
It appears that it is at the back of the cutlery drawer, but this area is completely sealed in! Do I need to remove the Actual Sink?
Seems a hell of a job to get to such a simple task!
Anyone got any idea's? or have done this job themselves?

In mine you remove two draws to get access. You can see the two feed pipes and behind them is the nut you need to tighten

different sink on 2019 to 2012. I had same sink on my Nuevo as I have on my Sussex, removed sink to replace tap pipes, really easy, just 4 screws, remove lid and undo waste.

Thanks Paul, but I think you have to remove the fridge to get at the screws!

Not on mine. There are screw caps covering the heads which double up as the stops for the lid and the lid hinge screws double up as the sink securing screws.Raydrake wrote:Thanks Paul, but I think you have to remove the fridge to get at the screws!

Paul! You're a diamond!!
Just been out to the van, removed the 4 screws and the waste, took out the sink, and
there it was!! All I had to do was get the right box spanner and tighten the nut.
Bob's yer uncle! All done.
Thanks mate!!

The only problem I had was fitting the rubber seal back on.
Dumped it in the end and went for clear silicon. Much better job!!

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
Hi
Trying to tighten up the tap on my van. The nut for the clamp is so close to the Flexi pipes I can't get a deep walled socket to go on. Can anyone tell me what size the nut is please, it looks as if it might be 13mm? If I was sure of the size I would grind down the wall of my socket enough to squeeze it on.
Many thanks

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
When I got my wxl the whole tap assembly was loose, eventually I used long nosed pliers to tighten the nut, then put a squirt of silicon to hold the nut in place. 18 months on it is still holding.

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
Why not grind it down anyway, if you think it's 13mm nut, it may well be. Worse case you have a thin socket!!DaveyA wrote:Hi

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
Cheers fellas
@Bilbobaggins
I will try with some pliers but the tap isn't exactly slopping about it just needs a good nip and pliers might not get it.
@IanH
They are good sockets and I don't want to ruin it unless I knew it would do the job for sure, then I wouldn't mind so much. It's hard to even see the nut, I've even tried taking a picture of the nut with my phone but it's hard to judge from that and feel alone.

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
The flexi pipes are quick release , would be possible to disconnect them to give access to the nut?

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
I'm not sure. It's right where the flexi pipes screw into the base of the tap that is tight against the nut. I don't fancy removing the pipes altogether and disturbing them, knowing my luck they'd probably start to leak afterwards. I've had the same trouble with taps in the house. The nut is always in the most awkward position. Anyway, it stops us getting bored

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
Box spanners are the way to go. A cheap set will do as there's not much force involved.

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
The trick that worked for me is get yourself (I think) another 8mm threaded nut, put that on the end, tighten that and tap mount tightens up and the two nuts lock together. No need to remove anything. I believe its 8mm . The mounting thread is a 2" threaded bar. 3/8" drive socket with long extension bar with knuckle end to get away from pipes.

Re: Kitchen Mixer Tap
Further to the last two posts, this set up has always worked for me
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Box tube spanner (metric 12) ; socket on the other end with a flexi connector and extension bar and ratchet .....The extension bar can be longer if required. If a proper back nu has been fitted originally, you will see that it has a collar, and should sit proud of the flexi tails (provided it has been fitted the correct way round )

Thank you all for your help. I’ve ordered a set of box spanners, they’ll never come in wrong
