Truma combi E panel
Hi,
2012 Warwick duo, owned "by me from new. We are away on holiday, all working fine. This morning the two dial control panel for the Truma combi E suddenly went dead. No lights showing whatsoever. I checked all the fuses on the Sargent which are fine. Does anybody know where to look next or where the power comes from as it might just be a loose connector? (in my dreams!)
Many thanks, Tim

Is the switch off on the main panel (ec500?)?

Re: Truma combi E panel
Thanks palette, yes it is on. I've since found a wiring diagram online. 12v goes into the Truma circuit board on the heater itself which then supplies the two dial control panel. Power to pcb is fine, the slow blow fuse is fine but it is sending no power to the control panel via the ribbon cable with telephone type plastic multi plugs. I fear a failed pcb so will investigate further when I get home.

Re: Truma combi E panel
If it is the circuit board that has failed they are I believe £265 to replace. I have a spare one which is "as new" with confirmation from Truma inspection that I would be willing to sell for £150 if that is any use.
Hope you don't need it though!
Have you checked BOTH fuses on the PCB, there is a hidden one low down that is not obvious at first sight!
Hope it is an easy fix for you.

Thanks Groundhog, very kind. I'll get back to you if necessary - it'll be several days yet though. I haven't checked the inaccessible fuse but I believe it is a 240v one so I guess shouldn't affect 12v/gas operation. I will check it first when I get home from my hols (in Poldarkland) though.

Re: Truma combi E panel
If you are in the area you are welcome to try the pcb out I have just kept it as a spare so it isn't going anywhere. I spent £800 on an engineer trying to trace the fault I had and it turned out to be just the switch so now have the pcb which I had Truma inspect, both fans and one switch spare!

Re: Truma combi E panel
Thats a kind offer. I'm not sure about fitting it while I'm away though. I've fitted a new combustion fan in the past but not sure how tricky the pcb is....where are you ?

Re: Truma combi E panel
I have read this somewhere (possibly on here) that if you press and hold the combi panel selection knob it turns the panel off, now I haven't tried this myself but you couldn't have turned it off unknowingly ?
Might be worth a try.

Cor, that would be brilliant. I jumped straight to it. Sadly our knobs don't depress.
Thanks Pete.

Re: Truma combi E panel
Pete, I may be wrong but you have the newer version of the Truma CP with a single knob that does indeed switch off if pressed in.
I think we are taking about the older style controls.

some heaters cool down and will then restart but need time to cool down but some you have to reset as per the picture. just some checks that can be done

I thought it might help others if not yourself understand the over heat reset that have it and it’s position but as I said some cool-down and reset by itself .this is a problem if air is not bleed before turning on the water heater
