Re: Weather
Whilst I was in the workshop the wind really ramped up. One fence panel on the side of the drive flexed inwards but none of the others. It must have been the weak link caught by the wind funnelling between the houses. I repaired that yesterday because the middle upright was adrift at the bottom. Cheap panels held together with staples.
Typically I forgot we needed some bits from Lidl so I had to run the gauntlet this afternoon. I suggested management went but the answer was” you want a brew you get the milk”. Some ones bin must have got loose because the corner of the car park was full of rubbish.

Re: Weather
No snow down here on the coast, however bread van driver says it's tricky driving conditions on the Wolds north of Whitby.
Cool westerly wind ,dry starlite morning, nice to hear the Mavis starting up the dawn chorus, good walk out with Tag.
Mind the old A9 from Perth to Inverness, snow gates closed at Calvine, waiting for the snow ploughs to open up the road, many a long night at Dalwhinnie too.
Have a nice day,stay warm.

Re: Weather
Crisp frosty morning that has frozen yesterday's slushy snow. Glad I cleared the drive yesterday afternoon as far easier to put salt on thin layer of ice than two inches of frozen snow. Snow plough did its usual trick of building a snow wall outside our house, also tackled that last night. Some neighbours haven't and will have a challenge getting out of their drives this morning without catching their cars underside.
Another yellow wind warning in place for tomorrow.
Take care and stay safe.

Re: Weather
Snow didn't last long here yesterday, turned to rain although it was still cold. Didn't seem to affect our fox who lay on the grass sleeping
Very dull, wet and bit blustery this morning. More to come as the yellow warning covers a very large swathe of the country.
Hope everybody is well

Re: Weather
In an odd turn of events, it has been bright and sunny here since mid morning. So much so that we've got a washing out getting a good blow
We're not fooled though, there more nasties on the way for later.

Re: Weather
Our back door is south facing, and sheltered from wind at present so despite being 5C and snow on the ground it is a little sun trap feeling much warmer in direct sunlight. Stood outside with a cuppa about an hour ago and it was lovely watching snow melt around the snowdrops.
As Askit says not fooled as more gloom to come, but still enjoy while it lasts.

Re: Weather
It was cold but only a gentle breeze this morning but after lunch it started to sleet. I don’t think it will be much of a problem unless it freezes tonight.
It’s nice to be back in the workshop with the heater on letting the world go by and getting some work done. Due to the weather we have postponed our next trip for a week. Hopefully we must be heading into warmer weather once we get to March. Having said that we had heavy snow at Easter when I was in Germany.

Re: Weather
Heavy rain for past couple of hours and wind is starting to pick up again. Warm enough that roads and pavements are not icy. But still lots of frozen snow on grass areas that were not in the sun yesterday.
Have a good day

Pretty mild here but very wet and windy, looks like it's on for the day. No matter, my boss has arranged some jobs for me around the house

Re: Weather
A nice bright iff a bit breezy here so far. The wind is supposed to pick up again by tea time here but not as strong as Friday so we should be ok.
I have left the heater on in the workshop so it will be nice and cosy for this afternoon. Hopefully iff the weather eases off next week I can change the hook up socket on the Rienza. It’s benn cracked for about five years but it’s getting awkward to plug in so I will sort it before our next trip.

Three trees down after storm Eunice, fortunately no structural damage although one is leaning on a polytunnel. 3 miles away daughter was without power and lost a fascia board. Now trying to clear up.

Re: Weather
I was up on steps installing some new ceiling lights (our ceilings are 13ft high) when my wife called me in a panicky voice to tell me it was pouring. Really
Unfortunately it was pouring in our bathroom from the bottom of our shower unit We have a stopcock for the shower under the bath so it has been shut off and I now have some fun to look forward to for tomorrow

Re: Weather
Today developed into a dreadful day, heavy rain turned to hail, winds maybe not as bad as Eunice but certainly Dudley standard. Daren't put the bins and recycling out otherwise it will be spread all down the road.

Re: Weather
Bit breezy again, mild for February with sunrise giving us a pinky blue sky with little cloud. Mountains still white but our snow has all but gone with snowman kids across the road from us built looking very sadd this morning.
If you are in storm areas then stay safe, hope it is just a loose connection and easily fixed Tony.

Re: Weather
Thanks BB, looking at the manual (unusually comprehensive, it's a Mira) my initial feelings are that the shower will need to be replaced. Luckily, most of the leaking water went down the drain.
Very windy from early evening but we appear to have missed the worst of the storm this time. We have a cloudless sky with bright sunshine right now and it's relatively mild. Forecast is for it to stay that way for much of the day with more rain tonight.
Hope all you folks are ok

Re: Weather
Latest storm Franklin has proved to be worse than Eunice here , winds 45mph gusting up to 80mph. Hardly slept a wink with the wind noise along with fences rattling somewhere nearby and bins blowing over and then being blown down the road (bin day today). No rain at all though.

Re: Weather
Brief weather window earlier, enough time to get a tag out and have a wee donder, however the gales and rain have returned .
Our wee weather station has disintegrated, leaving only the pole.
Have a nice day.

The weather seems to have settled down tonight. It was calm and dry on our walk. Muttly was quite enthusiastic so we made it a full walk instead of the short walk and dash home.
