Electric heater Empty Electric heater

Post by Neil Toogood Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:06 pm

Can anyone reccomend a make of electric heater which i can use to replace a Trumatic gas heater in my Pollensa Transit
I want to use it on 240V when hooked up.
I also would like to use it to duct hot air into the toilet/bathroom area as well as the main area.

Have you looked at electric panel heaters, they can be wall mounted so no danger of knocking over but they don't have fan for ducting to washroom. ?

Have used a small portable  fan heater for many many years.
No problems for me.

Another possibility could be a built-in plinth heater, as used at floor level in kitchens - not possible to duct the heat but you may not need to, as they can be reasonably powerful.

And another option is to build your own ducted system - but I'm not going to say anything more about that, for fear that someone will say "It's not CE marked - you're all going to die!".

Depending on the model, you may be able to fit an electric add-on designed for the Trumatic:

Our Pollensa came with this already fitted and it works a treat.

Cheers Roger I did see a post on here last night about a conversion kit but it’s about £400 with the fan
I’ve just boxed the space in and am looking to fit a plinth heater with a stat and keep it up a bit away from the carpet

Ah, I didn't realise that the fan and ducting etc wasn't part of the original gas heater installation, as I say ours already had all that when we bought it.

That's a pity as it does work very well as an integrated system, distributing the heat around the van and the shower room - great for drying wet coats etc. hung above the shower tray. Also with the heater being below the wardrobe it keeps anything hung in there nice and warm. The electric being switchable between 500W, 100W and 2000W is very useful, thermostatically controlled plus I have fitted a timer to bring it on automatically on cold mornings. When not on EHU, the gas option then works in the same way, although not on the timer of course but still using the fan which is 12V.

I hope you find something equally suitable.
