Thetford C3 toilet
Hi all members, I have a 1994 Auto sleeper symbol, the flush on the Thetford C3 model toilet is not working, fuse appears in tact but needed cleaning, but pump still not working, any ideas would be useful
Is it easy to replace the pump ?
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to one and all
Thanks Keith

There is an exploded diagram in the spare parts link linked below. The pump impeller can stick and just releasing it by flicking with a little screwdriver is often all that is needed to get it going again.

Re: Thetford C3 toilet
Hi Everyone, I’m new to Auto-Sleepers so hopefully you can help.
I have a 1994 VW T4 Topaz fitted with a Thetford C3, but it does flush. I have changed the fuse but it still doesn’t flush. I searched for the pump in the video but my model doesn’t appear to have one, there looks to be an electric valve instead. Is that possible?

I read somewhere that filling the flush fluid right to the top made it work, perhaps an air bubble or something. Anyway, that did work for us in our 1994 Duetto. Recently neither the 12 volt lights nor the flush worked but it was because the leisure battery was flat.

Easy to remove and check pump mine was seized up wouldn’t spin when fitting replacement pay attention to electrical connections, I think new pump comes with heat shrink sleeving I then wrapped connection’s with self amalgamating tape for extra waterproofing.
And to be extra extra sure I only fill toilet tank to approx half.

Thanks Playtime and Hampshire Hog,
This is really helpful. I know this is going to sound really stupid, but how do you fill the tank for the flush? Does it fill automatically when you fill the fresh water tank? Thanks for your patience.

With the toilet compartment door removed you will find water fill funnel above cassette, pull funnel out remove cap and fill. water level indicator on right hand side ,vertical clear plastic pipe. If it’s raining heavily I remove toilet roll holder and top up from inside van.
Remember to drain water from toilet as well as hot water heater etc before winter , if we use van for days out during winter we take a plastic bottle full water .

Re: Thetford C3 toilet
Not all toilets have their own flush tank. AS have used models that take the flush from the fresh tank and its hard to know which as I know the Symphony had some with own flush tank and some from fresh tank. Open the cassette door and look for the filler which Hampshire Hog describes, if you don't have that then it's taking water from the fresh tank.
We had a member with a 95 that took water from fresh tank , I had a 97 that had the flush tank as above.

Thanks Guys,
This is really helpful, I had no clue that it could be a separate fill. I’ll have a look over the weekend and let you know. Much appreciated knowledge!

I just had the pump replaced on my 1999 Symphony. Parts and labour just over £100. Didn’t feel confident to do it myself.

That's the one! Thanks so much for that tip, playtime. I remembered it, fortunately, and it cured the problem - first time I've experiennced it.playtime wrote:I read somewhere that filling the flush fluid right to the top made it work, perhaps an air bubble or something.
