When the CAMC bring in their new booking systems next year , there will be no significant difference between them and the C&CC. Only reason to join both will be to get a greater number of sites and CL/CS's to choose from.

That’s what I thought when I first got a van 10 years ago. I had contacted their technical advisor for some general advice beforehand and he was very helpful. When I eventually purchased our Nuevo I thought it churlish not to join and I was definitely NOT a rally person.groundhog wrote:Not me Peter, always thought ASOC was more for rallying and we aren't in to that.
I arrived at my first rally, Dartmouth…….and I was not expecting a lot, and I particularly hate enforced jollities. That is simply not the case. Very friendly people, some great characters. If you want to join in on events you will be welcomed; if you don’t just do your own thing. There is no pressure. Give it a go!

When we 1st got a caravan and joined the CC (CaMC) we went on a rally and the guys has collar and ties on, and sports jackets or blazers and I thought that very odd when you were camping (too posh) so until we moved home didnt go on another CC Rally.
We were persuaded to give our new local group a try and what a difference, all casual like us so I think it depends on where you are

We were active ralliers with the CC about 25 years ago, going away almost every couple of weeks. On the last morning , usually Sunday, there was always 'flag' when we all gathered for coffee and results of any competition etc. For that the rally officer always wore collar and tie. On one rally, the rally officer was running his first rally and when 'flag' came he entered wearing a tie and nothing else (but a small cloth covering the essentials), he said he'd been told by the chairman that he had to wear a tie.

When we went there about 10 years ago there were the two separate areas, one had much better views than the other, can't remember which , but no longer affiliated to C&CC, just the CAMC now.

Good news. If I remember correctly, we were just into camper vans, so must have been in the CC, being in the lower part and the C&MC was up the top of the site so had the views. Site owners not at all helpful when I had a flat battery and told me to use the payphone outside, did not offer me their phone on the desk. Never been back!! and the wind bent our awning poles. No mobile in those days.Paulmold wrote:rgermain wrote:I remember going to Damage Barton campsite many years ago. The rubbish skips were always full of bent poles and torn awnings and tents, the winds were wicked. I remember walking down to coastal path and sign outside the hay barn 'adders live here', I steered well away, I don't like snakes.
