Re: Mirror guards
I've put the Milenco copies on mine. I know they are not up to Mirrorguard quality but hoping the white stands out enough to be noticed by oncoming vehicles.

Re: Mirror guards
I fitted Mirrorguards on our van.
As mentioned before on ASOF, fitting Mirrirguards to vans that have short mirror arms reduces the amount that they can be folded inwards against the van. If I had known this at the time before fitting them I might have cut away a small section to mitigate this from happening.

Re: Mirror guards
I have recently broken a Mirrorguard. I drove down a lane that narrowed too much and in reversing out it was pulled off by a protruding branch and cracked. They are long arm ones of course.
I emailed Mirrorguards over a week ago to ask if I can buy a single nearside white one (with a reference to the original order number) and they haven't responded. I'm not that pleased!

Re: Mirror guards
White Mirrorguards on mine after I cracked the black nearside mirror on a branch. So far, so good.

Re: Mirror guards
I fitted mirror guards a couple of years ago, the passenger side has been sorely tested 3 times now and survived so I can recommend them.

Re: Mirror guards
Is there any point to fitting mirror guards? They seem to cost £140.00 per pair from the manufacturers whereas a replacement near-side mirror unit (listed as OEM quality) - the most likely to get broken - is £86.00 at:

Re: Mirror guards
Wise to fit Mirrorguards or a waste of money when the mirrors are cheaper on Amazon?
Be aware that although these wing mirrors might all seem to be the same, they are not. Some have the temperature sensor inside and the model number changed from year to year.
Unfortunately in the early weeks of having our van I reversed down our drive, me more intent on looking what was at the rear end of our van as seen in the view from the wing mirror. I didn't notice in time that the mirror itself was heading in the direction of our gatepost and the mirror surround broke. I had to replace the wing mirror, and to avoid any doubt bought a new one from our Peugeot dealer, ouch. At least I saved money by fitting the replacement myself, not the simplest of tasks.

Re: Mirror guards
I haven't looked into the cost of replacing a wing mirror in any detail but I suspect it will be much more than £86. The cost of having my much smaller BMW wing mirror replaced was around £200 and that was a few years ago. As I have discovered, motorhome wing mirrors are exceptionally vulnerable and the Peugeot ones are far less robust than they look. There is every chance if you break one once, you will break it again and then the cost of replacement really stacks up. I was taken aback at the cost of the Mirrorguards compared to other protectors but after reading the reviews decided it was worth it and that you probably get what you pay for.Crashman wrote:Is there any point to fitting mirror guards? Reversing narrow entrance :(
Hi all,
Looking at the videos on mirrorguard website and notwithstanding the folding restriction someone mentioned, i think they would be better if just a little deeper. I have to look 4 ways at once reversing over a dropped pavement into a narrow road (excuses excuses lol) and clipped the gatepost at less than walking pace and the mirror should have folded back. It didn't - the outside frame cracked. Peugeot. Double annoying because 2nd time the mirror frame has been damaged although first time not me. Anyhoo It seems to me that this leading edge might still (not) take the strain when I clip the post again. Wdyt?

Re: Mirror guards
Just don't expect any "service" from Mirror Guards themselves. I have sent two emails to them recently, asking if they would sell a single left side one. Neither email has bounced but there has been no response at all. IF I buy a replacement it won't be a direct purchase - I'd rather an intermediary got their cut .
