Afternoon from an absolute novice
Afternoon, just saying hello, as my wife and I are a week away from collecting out first Campervan, and it's all getting rather exciting.
We were stuck about whether to go used or new, and given the bamboozling selection of used vans available (or not available as the case frequently turned out to be), we decided to go for new.
On Tuesday we travel from Cornwall to England, Devon to be precise, to collect our shiny new Autosleeper Fairford.
If it's half as good as we hope it will be, then we are going to have a lot of fun and a lot of adventures.
I also think it is inevitable I will be asking a huge number of questions so please bear with me - newbie doesn't even hint at my lack of knowledge and experience!

Afternoon and welcome from another Kernow dweller.
Which of our fine bands would that be in your avatar pic?

Thank you!
As for the avatar, that will be my one and only jaunt around Helston on Flora Day, the last one before lockdown in fact. I play with Redruth Band ordinarily.

"….. Bassoon, flute and euphonium…."
We're further east near St Austell but are known to visit Morrish's.
Enjoy your new van. My advice is to go over it with a fine tooth comb on collection.

Might add, make the dealer take his time with the handover and make sure you understand how ALL things work and make SURE THEY DO WORK.Tinwheeler wrote:"….. Bassoon, flute and euphonium…."

As I see the dealer is not on your door step.
Enjoy your new van and you can find many answers on this forum, if needed.

Re: Afternoon from an absolute novice
Thanks very much guys. It's getting very exciting now. I have two major events this coming week. Most importantly the collection of the Campervan, but also the resurrection of the colossally thirsty Mercedes E500 estate (hopefully). However heavy on fuel the van will be, it cannot possibly compare to the thirst of the MB.

Re: Afternoon from an absolute novice
We ventured in to the wilds of Devon this morning and collected our camper van. The handover was as expected - pretty thorough. I mention this because my day job is as a handover specialist (cars I might add) so it was fascinating to see the job from the other side.
I've always feared information overload when performing a handover and this nearly happened here - luckily my mum and dad (who'd driven my wife and I to Devon as my Mercedes E500 is having air suspension issues and is at the specialist) asked things I'd forgotten.
All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Lots to absorb but the issues I was a little concerned about - power, batteries, toilets, LPG - are pretty straightfoward.
I have a day off tomorrow so plan to do some reading and some fiddling with various bits.

Good idea to have a night in it at home prior to any trips
