Hello from A novice in South East London.
Hello everyone,
Firstly, what a fantastic page and forum - so glad I found you all!
Secondly, having travelled down to view a T4 Autosleeper (2.4 diesel) in Dorset, checked it and loved it, myself, my wife and three year old daughter decided we'd love to put an offer in only to discover that as a 2.5 tonne diesel it does not qualify for London's LEZ zone without a DPF filter which it doesn't have. After much disappointment the hunt is back on for Petrol T4 Autosleeper. I'd love to hear your petrol T4 related experiences and top tips for finding our dream Camper.
Thanks in advance!........... Ian.

Hi, and welcome to the forum, please don't take offence, but posting the same thing in three different posts will not get you three times as many answers. Probably the opposite in fact.

Hi,
No offence taken. I wasn't aware I'd posted three times. I thought I'd posted twice; once in the 'Hello' section, (which I was invited to do), and once in the 'General/miscellaneous' section, which I thought might be a good idea.
Anyway, appreciate the top tip.
Ian.

Hi Ian, my Boxer 2.8HDi Executive doesn't have a DPF (AFAIK) but I've just checked on the LEZ No Plate checker and it's 'No Charge'.
As far as I know, all it has is a cat, and it's over 3 tonnes.

Hi meanchris, if it's post 2002 it'll have one automatically built in apparently.

I'm afraid I don't. A local mechanic told me. But it may well be on the TFL website. When I entered our potential vansregistration into the website it warned of a £200 a day fine.

Re: Hello from A novice in South East London.
My Transit was a 2002 and was LEZ compliant. There are a few 2001 that are compliant and even some earlier vehicles but 2002 appears to be the break point. HOWEVER, there was talk about the threshold for compliance being reduced recently/soon plus Sadiq Khan wants to introduce an ultra low emission zone which may catch a lot more vehicles that are currently exempt. Best bet is to stay outside the M25.meanchris wrote:IanC wrote:Hi meanchris, if it's post 2002 it'll have one automatically built in apparently.

meanchris, I can't find a page that says what qualifies but if you click through the check my vehicle by type, you will find vehicles registered after 1st January 2002 are (currently) London LEZ compliant. I can only assume DPFs had to be factory fitted from this date.meanchris wrote:IanC wrote:Hi meanchris, if it's post 2002 it'll have one automatically built in apparently.

Re: Hello from A novice in South East London.
Thanks.
I'll be amazed if my 2005 2.8HDi has a DPF, they usually tell you when they're being regenerated for example.
The engine management on the 2005 Boxer is also pretty basic from what I can gather from my OBDII information.
I had a 2005 Merc CLK 270CDi which also didn't appear to have a DPF. What these vehicles all do have to have is a catalyst, I wonder whether that's the significant factor.
I'm happy to be put straight if wrong.
DPFs were part of the Euro5 type approval from 01/09/09 and for new registrations from 01/01/11, prior to that they weren't compulsory for diesel vehicles.
I'm pretty sure that my Exec 2.8HDi is Euro3 which became compulsory for all registrations after 01/01/01
It's not even Euro4, which only became compulsory for registrations after 01/01/06.
I'll bet a fiver that there are few if any vehicles that had a DPF fitted as standard before late 2005.
