VW T4 Trooper battery drain
Hi everyone,
We recently purchased a 1994 T4 Trooper and we’re really enjoying van life but recently we’ve started having issues with the main van battery and (at times) the leisure battery.
The main battery went flat after not starting for two days so we replaced it with a new battery but we still have the same problem. It now goes flat after about two hours. The leisure battery also loses all charge.
We still have ignition lights and it will start with a jump.
Thanks all,
Tom

Hey Tom.
Try to daft things first.
My 2002 T4 Trident has the light socket permanently on despite the engine off. Have you a phone charger plugged in there?
Also have you turn off all power to the panel when not in use?
Regards Bob.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried to check that everything is off. Is there a way to turn the panel off. Main Battery is losing about 0.2v each day.
Thanks Bob

Re: VW T4 Trooper battery drain
Something is pulling to power.
Also check the relays are clean. I recently had a 12v power issue and it was just the relay box. Mine for the hab are next to the battery under the hood. The rest of the relays for the van are under the steering wheel in a pop down cover.
Might be best to disconnect to leisure battery and see what happens.
If you have a zig unit you can charge the van and leisure battery from the EHU.
