Trident rear wardrobe door
Hi All,
This might be a common occurrence but my better half (I'm blaming her as she's done it twice now) is a bit clumsy shall we say and leaves the wardrobe door open, then closes the tailgate which rips out the hinges of the cabinet door.
Does anyone have any solutions (divorce isn't one!) ? I'm thinking of putting a folding cabinet stay on it so it doesn't open beyond being 90 degrees/perpendicular to the cupboard (like it does now hence getting smashed off) so the tailgate comes down and closes it instead, but this will restrict access and might lead to a bust window.
Cheers,
Myles

Re: Trident rear wardrobe door
It's a difficult balancing act, trying to make it foolproof but still useable!
Our Trooper has a similar rear-facing door, and the first owner shut the tailgate on it and made a hole in the trim that goes around the inner part of the tailgate, which was hard to repair. As you say, breaking a window instead would be costly, even if the insurance were to cover that under "windscreen" cover.
There are a few other possibilities - e.g. a weighted cord self-closer (very hard to set up so that it doesn't rattle around while travelling) or possibly removing the hinge and adding Velcro or similar fixings so that it becomes a removable hatch?
Having said that, I suspect that it's quite likely that your better half - having made the mistake twice - will never make the same mistake again?

Your lucky you didnt smash the tailgate window as some people do.
Just dont do it is the solution or it might cost you a lot of money to replace the rear window.
