Mirror blind spots
Having driven and towed for a very long time .. but a new driver to the Boxer van chassis,
liked the big mirrors , but got no advice how to set the lower mirrors.
Fortunately set them out wide as when on 4 lane motorway needing to move
in a lane looked completely clear in the large mirrors but then spotted a Tesla right alongside in the lower mirror .. was surprised that it was completely blind in the main mirrors .
Similarly when pulling out of an acute angle side road , with the large B pillar can struggle
to get a good view , similar blind spot in the mirrors , so am adding small convex mirrors.
Anyone else experienced these issues .. pretty important to get good views , doubt it's just
a Peugeot issue.
Wish it had the cameras and warnings of my KIA .

Yes I have my lower mirrors set wide to cover that blind spot as vehicles are passing you, and on the near side it allows you to see what is coming on slip roads joining the carriageway you are on.

Absolutely I do (Boxer).RodW wrote:

When on a Motorway with a vehicle passing me slowly, they are invisible for quite a long time. I think the blind spot is huge and the lower mirror has to be set on maximum wide view to cover it off. (coincidentally just put this in another thread)

Would liked to have seen some guidance in the handbook, did ask the dealer but no real guidance either.. it is a significant saftey issue and was a shock to realise how big the spot is .

What I have noticed is the current generation of cabs appear to have narrower doors resulting in restricted field of vision before coming into my side view, or is it just me?

Not just you ..when pulling out of an acute angle junction is very difficult to get
a good view of approaching traffic ..had a couple of close calls..cant trust the mirrors .. open the window and stick head out ?

I think it's the blinds that AS fit to the doors, they make the door window appear smaller and the rear blind spot larger.RML wrote:What I have noticed is the current generation of cabs appear to have narrower doors resulting in restricted field of vision before coming into my side view, or is it just me?

Re: Mirror blind spots
Depending on your seat position, the side cab blinds do obscure vision. I removed ours and they now live in the loft.AutoSleepy_Don wrote:I think it's the blinds that AS fit, they make the door window appear smaller and the blind spot larger.RML wrote:What I have noticed is the current generation of cabs appear to have narrower doors resulting in restricted field of vision before coming into my side view, or is it just me?
