Rear Door Cover Awning- Does anyone use them?

Does anyone have experience of the Rear Door Cover Awning, as made by Fiamma or other makes?
Just curious to know - might be useful for PVCs, or do the disadvantages outweigh the advantages?
We have considered just using a tarp thrown over on the odd occasion.
