Rear bike rack cover - Mountain bikes
The 2-bike rack on the back of our Symbol is on the RHS door, and needs the type of cover that goes over and under the bikes and rack, and is open at the front where the rack fixes to the van. We tried a Fiamma 2/3 bike cover, but it did't fit very well - both bikes are large, and with wide handle bars. It was really difficult to get on . Any suggestions for what might work - we are thinking of trying the 4-bike Fiamma version, but would welcome other suggestions.

We have a 2/3 bike cover and found that it worked best if we turned the handlebars along the axis of the bike frame by loosening the handlebar pinch screws.

Hi Sleepy,
Did you find a bike cover? looks as though we have the same problem.
Cheers

Re: Rear bike rack cover - Mountain bikes
Hi there,
We have the big Fiamma one and it is so difficult to fit without a ladder (even with the handlebars folded in) that we don't bother using it.
However, the one that Meanchris mentions is still Fiamma but a different model and looks much easier to fit.
If my memory serves me correctly (Meanchris please confirm) it's the Fiamma model that has a slot built-in to insert one of the red/white diagonal marked "overhang" sign required in Italy.
However, I haven't been able to find a source.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

That's the one - it's the 2-3 bike one. Still not that easy to fit, and in fact we've decided to do without and just dry the saddles in future. It was about 28 squids IIRC, from Glossop Caravans.

Re: Rear bike rack cover - Mountain bikes
Hi,
To Baz's question: no not found one yet. As a temporary measure we have a cover that fits one of the bikes only: that only keeps one dry but it does hide it away totally (it's a fancy looking bike) and more or less hides the inside one as well.
Not ideal at all though; (1) a ladder or something to stand on is needed to get it on easily, and (2) no rear visibility at all through window or camera. If I could start again, I think I would go for a tow bar and a ball mounted rack; may yet go down that route.

Not what you are looking for, as no use for travelling... But we met a couple who had a "Bike Cave", for when parked up....allowing you to store your bikes without having to lift them up all the time...Also useful for all sorts of storage! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Neat and at £49.99 with a wall anchor it's not all that expensive.Swansea Jac wrote:Not what you are looking for, as no use for travelling...
