How do you protect your carpets and upholstery when out on site or don't just bother?

Re: Warwick XL
We just use them as they are.
The upholstery is quite resilient and we only covered it when we had a dog. Some folk remove carpets but we like to use them. We put a mat inside the door for wiping feet on and that's it.

We are the same, they are there to be used and all the cushions, just bought a black cab mat for winter time when shoes are likely to be muddy

Protect them from what?
I fold up an old dog towel and use that as a doormat, that's it though.
They're carpets, and much like those in a house, they're intended to be walked on

Re: Warwick XL
Cushions only covered by a cheap throw because of the dog.
Carpet gets whatever is thrown at it but I do stick it in the washing machine on the 40 degree cycle every year, usually in summer when it’s hot enough to lay it flat on the patio to dry.

Re: Warwick XL
Rubber pimple mat just inside the door to catch the worst and if muddy, an old pimple mat outside the door just before the step.
We've tried having loose rubber backed mats on top of the AS ones but they always get caught up with feet and table legs so not going to bother with them anymore!
Good to know about machine washing the AS ones though.

Karen, it takes a bit of folding and rolling and takes 2 separate washes but the Symbol carpets fit into my standard washing machine ok.

Re: Warwick XL
I use a quick-dry mat in the doorway and when I find a way of fitting one in the cab so it doesn't move, will put one there for muddy days driving. I have thought of putting another in front of the cooker just to cover marks on it where the dealer spilt coffee on it pre-pickup and then managed so scorch it on a radiator whilst trying to dry it out quickly! So I am in the fortunate position of having a complete set of new carpets as spares that they gave me! A pimple mat outside sounds good too as does the washing advice.

For summer use we removed the carpets from the kitchen area and installed the interlocking black foam chequerplate patterned tiles from DIY store. Cab has a one piece rubber mat on top of existing carpet

Re: Warwick XL
in summer (or over there) no need for carpets at all, they just trap any dirt/sand etc...with no carpets, van easy to brush out in seconds. even cab comes with heavy duty, easy clean, rubber floor once carpet removed.
in the UK in winter, carpets add 'warmth' to the van but will also be subject to a tougher life...over mats can help, a mat by the door to wipe shoes...or just take them off?
our carpets are 'in' now, trip home tomorrow and they will be 'out' for rest of year....

Re: Warwick XL
We use sample pieces from various carpet shops mainly by the doors and in front of the sink area. A couple of pounds and then when finished or no longer cleanable they are recycled with the fabric recycling collection. The carpets get something like a twice yearly clean with our carpet cleaner and dried on the line outside. Sometimes it is horrifying how dirty they can get. After ten years they are just beginning to break down slightly.

Re: Warwick XL
Probably a stupid question, but if I did decide to have a go at looking at the none return valve I assume I would have to drain the whole system of first?
