Do you guys and girls catch up?
To be honest, I’m not really into rallies, big weekend meets etc.. I like things simple without all the games and dressing up as a pirate!
After enjoying the forum for getting on for 3 years now I’ve often wondered what others are like in person compared to the image built up from words on a screen.
I just wondered if there was something simple and informal that goes on that I’d not heard of?

Several of us are members of ASOC and can meet up on the clubs rallies, I've met quite a few that way (I've only been a member for 3 years ). I've met others purely by accident on C&CC THS's.

And I guess the average age of those attending ASOC rallies is circa 70 so no dressing up and occasional games would be boules and dingbats - I think we did have a competition for the best Easter Bonnet about 15 years ago. This is is probably the extreme:
PS: When searching for that picture I saw so many people who have since passed away - it was from 2010 - perhaps you are better staying away.

The Bells and Merlot were looking a bit depleted there Peter!
Edit... just noticed your last sentence. Sad times I’m sure looking back at old pictures.
Personally, similar reminders remind me to stop moaning and make the most of life.

Re: Do you guys and girls catch up?
through other forums, ive exchanged emails/messages on a range of subjects, sometimes touring plans and favourite destinations.
this has led to meeting up with many folk, sometimes at shows but quite a few on tours, sometimes abroad.
surprisingly, most have remained friends after meeting me (us), lol
we have done a few meets with our MH 'brand', UK and Continental, again making friends beyond motorhoming despite no dressing up or secret handshakes...

I've met one member in person, we spoke for a few minutes at the dealership which supplied our van. Although I've seen plenty of AS vans on sites (and elsewhere), we've never enquired about whether they were members or not

I've met a couple of members of this forum and some from other forums on a number of occasions. They've been exactly as they come across on screen but more relaxed and it's been good to meet.

Re: Do you guys and girls catch up?
Indeed, I would find it great to meet others on here.
By chance I’m probably most likely to bump into Richard somewhere on the south coast near Hayling as we are often down that way.
Pure coincidence but we both also do a part time job for a couple of hours a week for the same company! Spooky.

When I think about it we may have met one other couple from the forum in the past. Just after we picked up the van in June 2015, we took it on our first trip away for a couple of nights to the Moffat club site. We ended up being pitched right beside an identical Neuvo which was also a 15 plate. Anyway, a couple stopped and spoke to us about the van and said they had owned a Neuvo for some time and were very happy with it. I must admit, because it was all new to me, I was a bit spaced out I'm think an owner club was mentioned in passing but I'm not sure. Guess I'll never know now

Re: Do you guys and girls catch up?
I have met Ian and Helen from Skegness when we both had Duettos. And I met a member from Norfolk that bought the TV bracket for his Clubman, sorry can’t remember you’re name.
I have seen a couple of Forum stickers on windscreens over the years but never met the owners. Maybe when we are let out our paths will cross.

Great place to walk along the beach, I better leave it there for now as I have misplaced my hard hat.
I will PM my contact details.

Re: Do you guys and girls catch up?
Very nice Peter (we had a Dormobile Deauville coach built on the CF base and it did motor but the body being aluminium sandwich construction was susceptible to corrosion)
We saw one in a Romney Marsh garage around 1980 in lhd but it was way outside out pay grade.
We had a Dormobile MK1 Ford our first 'van at that time when we were based in Ashford.
Yes Boaby perhaps the next time you are up here.
