Exterior temperature sensors Empty Exterior temperature sensors

Post by Bilbobaggins Mon Nov 23, 2020 4:42 pm

Does anyone know where the exterior temperature sensors are on a Warwick xl?

Just been out for a coffee in the van at the coast and when we got home dash temperature said 22C, switched on Sarjent unit and it read 12C, while both weather apps in my phone say local temp is about 8C

I think they are in the mirror case but could be wrong.

Hi. Our 2015 Kingham has the pimple below the drivers door mirror casing. It has malfunctioned since a very hot spell couple of years ago. Totally crazy temperatures are displayed about the external temperature. I would have liked to replace the pimple sender but the task of mirror removal and opening up is serious - unless one of our colleagues has done it.

Hi, Outside temp sensor is in the driver’s mirror, notorious for failure, mine just reads _ _ _ c, it doesn’t have any other function other than outside temp (not linked into anything else). I won’t be getting mine fixed unless l have to replace/remove the mirror in the future.

Thanks for replies, won't be rushing to fix it given it is not linked anything else. My fear was it was in a wheel arch or near to something mechanical that was overheating.

I did have a French car for a short while about 40 years ago that had some idiosyncrasies, interesting to see this is still the case. I have mostly had Toyota cars for 30+ years so have become used to cars and their bits doing what they were designed to do. Need to get used to continental engineering again.

My temperature reading went haywire under warranty and the entire driver's door mirror assembly had to be changed (not just the sensor), at a considerable cost.

I had to cut a hole in my Mirror Guard mirror protectors, so that the little 'pimple' of the temperature sensor could both 'see' the outside air and the mirror guard would fit without rubbing on the 'pimple'.

My Sargent temperature external sensor is under the floor. The internal one is in the control panel.

on some makes of trucks I have been on dealer training the temperature sensor in the mirror works in connection with the adblue system. so the sensor in the mirror may need sorting if a Peugeot boxer works like hgv trucks do

I had to change the flasher light in my previous Warwick when the mirror got hit by white van man and cracked it.

From memory, if you use the mirror electrical adjustments to move the mirror to its vertical extremes, IE fully left and/or fully right, small screws are exposed. Removal of those gives access to the mirror internals, be aware they are small!

If/as its only an indication I'd personally leave well alone! I used a cheap inside/ouside temp indicator on prev Warwick (had no temp indication on the base vehicle), battery powered, and ran its wire up the trim cover then out to the mirror I araldited the sensor to the underside of the mirror, worked great.
