Warwick XL Table
I'm looking for some ideas on how to make the large table in our WXL fold away.
Instead of keep switching tables between the large and small one. I wondered if it was possible to remove the support post from the small table and fit to one end of the large table. Then, cut the this table in half width ways, join it back with a piano hinge but then, how would I support the other end? I guess it would have to be either some sort of folding, or maybe removeable leg?
We manage to to live and sleep with the small table left in place so, I reckon if I could find some way of doing this, it would solve the problem of keep changing them around!
Perhaps someone has already done something like this if so, I would appreciate any advice or ideas, thanks

Have to dash now Sapper, but I have a possible solution for you - it works for us anyway!Sapper wrote:I'm looking for some ideas on how to make the large table in our WXL fold away.

Later, unless Paul (our resident sniffer dog) has found a reference to it by then.

Re: Warwick XL Table
a typical folding single pole mounted table...this one from Rapido but used in many Continental vans.
they require stronger hinges than just piano type to be self supporting...which these are.
find a dealer and go and have a look....may be some used table tops on ebay/gumtree etc....ours is smaller so doesnt need to fold in half.

Re: Warwick XL Table
Hi Sapper
I've posted this before, but if Paul can't find it I assume it has been deleted! Don't know if you could fit it with your layout though??
We use this swan neck setup which is very versatile when travelling. It stays behind the driver's seat as shown, and the Memsahib can just swivel it out and lay the plates and cutlery while I fetch the frites.
It's a bit small, but it's so convenient we put up with that.
If we have friends in and want a bigger table, we use a Fiamma tripod base with a second small table on top. Much less of a trip hazard as you shuffle to your place, and I trimmed the leg so both tables are exactly the same height.
It's not perfect, but it's far more convenient than the supplied table with it's shin bashing legs. The Fiamma tripod is also ideal for outside as it doesn't rock on uneven ground.
Hope this is useful

Re: Warwick XL Table
We have just made a bigger table (800 x 400mm) for our Symbol, using the island leg to support at one end and two Reimo Folding Adjustable legs on the other. It can still swivel slightly to ease access past it. The island leg has been shortened so that the table height suits the lower floor level, for eating etc whilst still being usable for drinks etc if seated in the swivelled passenger seat. The legs fold flat under the table for storage and the whole thing can be stored in the wardrobe or at the back of the vehicle. No photos yet but will try at the weekend if of help!Sapper wrote:I'm looking for some ideas on how to make the large table in our WXL fold away.

Initially we tried with the island leg and one folding leg but it was a bit unsteady, although secure, so with a tripod arrangement it should be better!

Re: Warwick XL Table
Here's ours, Duo, not XL.
We find it more than adequate for 2 people to use, should we have guests the unwieldy folding one lives on the outer loo wall!
The next post shows the telescopic leg, tiny and lives in wardrobe
Site wouldn't let me send more than 3 pics!

Photos of 800 x 400mm table using a shortened island pole with two Reimo adjustable, folding legs.
It can be swivelled out of the way a bit, and is big enough for two to use.
Both leg and tabletop can be stored in the wardrobe.
More photos in next post as couldn't post all together.

Re: Warwick XL Table
whilst this is slightly different to ours, it shows the mechanism to allow a table to slide fwd/aft and from side to side and to rotate if required.
mount the table top on this, mount the mechanism onto a removable pole and you have the best of all worlds...
Continental 'fixed' but sliding (and sometimes folding) tables are great for reading, dining, computing etc but some dont like the 'fixed to the floor' element...change that part with a removable pole and you have a good mix of advantages.
life would be easier if the floor were level, not many converters make the cab and lounge at a single level but it makes the front of cab far more inclusive, especially with the cab seats rotated.
a sliding table can then be more conveniently placed and reached easily by four lounge occupants.
