Hi... I’m wanting to know if you can use a baby seat in the rear of 1992 VW Autosleeper Trident with lap belts or can you replace with tension seatbelts if so where would I purchase these. Many thanks

In terms of adding an inertia reel setup to the rear of the van, I think you should speak to A/S to get their advice on how to do it. You would need fairly substantial upper mount points to do that safely. If you have a look at some of the more recent T4 based Tridents (and Troopers) on Ebay, you can get an idea of how it's done, but you would really need to replicate the factory setup in the later vans to be sure of doing it safely.

I've no doubt you could also create something of your own design, using the existing lap belt mounts but running a fixed belt up and over the seat back to create an upper mounting point. I'm sure you could do this yourself in a perfectly safe way with a bit of thought, but the problem is that you would probably never be able to get it "officially" signed off to the satisfaction of an insurance company. So you would risk an insurance company refusing to pay out in the unlikely event of things going badly wrong in an accident...
