E2400 Truma Heater Problems
Hi, just got my first autosleeper and have everything working apart from the heater.
It's a e2400 truma.
It was flashing a red light when turned on but now it is blowing cold air for about 20 seconds and then just turning off. Any help appreciated, thanks!
Josh

Your heater may have a chimney through the roof of a clue out through the wall. If the latter, have you removed the cover? The cover may be a rectangular box about 8 in high 2.5 in wide and an inch deep that fits over the balanced flue. If that is not removed when the fire is used it will try to run for about 20 seconds and then turn off , normally with a red light somewhere. The cover should be on when travelling or in storage. I used to leave mine on the dashboard as a reminder.

Yes the cover is definitely off, but I have been reading if the covers been on for the past few months it might take a while to get going?
Thanks anyway

As Ron says and you have confirmed, the exhaust/inlet cover is off?
The 20 seconds of cold air you report is a purge of the combustion chamber to ensure that no residual gas is in there before the new lighting sequence begins, it should be followed by the gas being admitted and an audible click which is the ignition spark. The fact that there is an air purge also means that the unit it electrically connected.
Are you 100% sure that the vehicle gas is switched on? Indeed is it, perhaps empty? Quick way to check that is light one of the cooker burners.
Other than those, non invasive, checks I'd call a caravan repairer, gas is definitely not something any of us should be fiddling with!

Yea cooker definitely working. I think it might just be that it was sitting a while before us buying, I'll give it another few tries today.
I'll certainly not be fiddling with gas! I'd like to survive to enjoy the van!!

I know this may be stating the obvious, but see attached pic.........
The right hand pic shows what you should be seeing if the cover (LH pic) is removed.

I didn't know the e2400 (which is a blown air heater) was ever fitted in AS vans, perhaps it was the successor to the Carver P4 or Propex.
It doesn't use the flue design that Ian showed nor does it have a cover to remove, this is the flue it should have if fitted as original equipment...

It's a 2002 symbol for reference. It definitely has a cover to remove, on the side of the van, we were showed and told to remove it when using the heater when buying it.

It's possible it was fitted to replace an older unit such as a Carver. When my Carver P4 packed in I looked at fitting the e2400 but managed to find another P4.jrolloos wrote:It's a 2002 symbol for reference. As you say if it's been stood a while it may take several attempts to get it to fire up, I know my Carver took about 20 attempts after a winter layup. Hope you get sorted.

So you just kept on trying for 20 minutes turning it on and off? I read somewhere else that maybe turn it on and off a few times, wait 30 minutes then try again a few times and it should work?

Not so much 20 minutes but 20 attempts to fire it up before it stayed on.

Another possibility is that the flue is gummed up with slider webs. I don't know what itooks like but it could be worth giving it a blow with an airline if there is a friendly neighborhood garage.
Otherwise try patience with multiple attempts. Fridges are notoriously difficult to start after a long break - fires less so because of higher gas flow to purge the pipe.
