Zig unit on ford duetto Empty Zig unit on ford duetto

Post by iceman Tue May 29, 2012 8:32 pm

I have a Zig MC-4000M control unit in my 1994 Ford Autosleeper Duetto. Can someone tell me if the green charging light should be on when on hookup if the battery is fully charged or does it just come on when the battery is low and needs charging? Everything is working okay except this one thing. The Zig manual that came with the vehicle tells me nothing and I think it's the wrong one anyway! Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have a Duetto but I think I have the same Zig. The green light comes on as soon as I plug the EHU in, I've never seen it go off unless I switch the charger off (in the cupboard under the oven on my van) or unplug the EHU lead.

Thanks for your reply Boxerman. Is there anywhere I can check if the charger is turned on other than on the control panel? Any idea where the charger is located? Sorry, new to this game!! scratch head scratch head

There is often a false floor at the base of the cupboard under the cooker, on my Symphony the water pump and I think the charger are at the back under the false floor. As in Frank's, the charger switch and the mains electric box and the water heater (electric) switch are in that cupboard.

...And on my Symphony, a little older than Paul's, the charger, propex and water pump are in a compartment under the bench seat at the cooker end. It's accessed by pulling the seat cushion into the alleyway and then lifting a loose door. I think there is a switch on the charger itself.
