Can anyone recommend a good quality 12v/240v satellite receiver?  Recently changed the motorhome with a Roadpro dome but our Avtex TV doesn't have built in sat. receiver.

Cello TV has one built in, google the 16" one. IMHO a better option than Avtex, though many will disagree!!

Thanks very much, we'll have a look.  We are hoping to buy just the receiver as the tv is absolutely fine.

I bought a Cello, & was VERY disappointed with it, very flimsey in my opinion & right out of the box it was damaged, contacted them & they didn't want to know, got full refund from supplier & bought a much better one from Sharp & i'm very happy with it, maybe I was unlucky, I DID try to buy British, but I learnt my lesson!!

My previous van, I fitted a Roadpro, but that had its own control  box, then I had to hook it up to a Maxview tuner box as well, 2 lots of wiring, fuses, switches etc. & of course 2 boxes hidden away somewhere.
TV with built-in tuners, far neater, & NO boxes! smile!

No, I have often said that Cello is very good value for money, we have one, never given any problem. Why pay extra just for a snobby name.

As I said, other may agree/disagree!!!

£129, 16", HD, built in DVD player, built in Sat receiver, built in freeview, HDMI input, ability to record to USB stick, British made (Geordieland)

Works for me, but time will, as always, tell!

If you just want to use in the van then you only need a 12v powered unit.

Having had a discrete satellite receiver in the past, I was looking for one to recommend but looking today they are a thing of the past and I recommend you bite the bullet and buy a TV with built in receiver that is designed for caravan use - 12v and low power consumption. I would always go for Avtex but ecognise there are cheaper alternatives that may be acceptable.
