£14,00 eBay motorhome scam.
NHS workers drive 2 hours to pick up dream motorhome – but it was a £14,000 eBay scam

It's very sad that this innocent family have been scammed out of money that will affect their life for years.
I must say though that buying a motor home through Ebay without even once looking at the vehicle is naive to say the least. Then bypassing the Ebay payment system to pay by bank transfer in advance of even seeing the vehicle is foolish in the extreme. Unfortunately these scammers will always steal money from the careless, which is why there are so many of them.

While I feel sorry for them I can't help but think if they'd done some research they would've realised a van like that couldn't possibly be for sale at that price.
As you say, foolish in the extreme, bordering on the stupid.
As for someone opening a FB just giving page for them, it beggars belief..
But then again, I recall a certain notorious Scottish politician opening a just giving page to pay for his court case costs, so why am I not surprised..

“Thought it was too good to be true” popped up in the article at the beginning.
I really do feel for them and can’t imagine how they felt when realising it was a scam but have to echo the comments made above.

I was surprised to read AFTER they had transfered the money they did this Quote "Once Paul had transferred the cash he asked a friend to call the seller to see if she was still selling the motorhome.
Paul's friend confirmed that the seller had told him it had now been sold. What the....A friend has now set up a just giving page. I won't be donating.

I'm just amazed by how all the -ve feeling is directed towards the poor naive saps who have lost a sizeable amount of money. Yes they have been stupid in trusting scum . No one seems to mention the vermin who have by all accounts sold this van possibly 3 times and pocketed a lot of cash.
Why no posts shouting to string them up from the nearest lamp post or introduce them to your favourite hammer? They will now move on to selling a boat ,car , caravan or bike , whatever and line up their next victims. I feel we should be forming a posse to show them the error of their ways

Kaspian, It goes without saying what I (and I’m sure everyone else) feel about the complete lowlife who are behind these scams. As far as I’m concerned no punishment is too harsh for the scum.
What is the point though of wasting one second writing about how I feel about them, it’s not going to change their behaviour.
If however one decent person reads about the naivety etc.. of others (however harsh it may seem) and it saves them from a similar experience then great in my book.

Has anyone tried to transfer cash from their bank account recently? The banks ask God knows how many times are you sure this is not a scam. They do it both on internet banking, in person and also on the phone. Thats probably why the bank wont refunded. It will have been even stupidier to have sent it by a money wiring system
I'm beginning to lose the will to live with people who continue to transfer money whilst ignoring the warnings. They always have a friend to set up a giving page which in my opinion results in kind hearted people also being scammed in a round about way.

Call me a miserable sceptical old rodent but how do we know this isn't a double bluff and itself a scam as the original story isn't true

I have a pretty good imagination and a warped mind but even my mind isn't that inventive!kaspian wrote:Wow ' hog do you write government speeches in your spare time
It is true though, my granny just lost her only way of getting to the shops, she spent all her money on the new BMW because she always wanted a car that colour and then some toerag stole it, The insurance company went bust so she couldn't claim and she still owed the dealer so wasn't able to buy any food. She ate the cat and that made her sick so she needed medicine.
In total she lost £47000 and now can't sleep as she had to sell her bed.
Anyone fancy setting up a donation page for her, I promise to pass all the money on.....honest!
