Insurance vs security devices
PMy insurance renewal is due, my monitored and tracked alarm is no longer on the approved list of my preferred insurers so have taken the decision not to declare I have one fitted. The insurers all ask does the vehicle have an immobiliser?
I assume it does have a factory fitted immobiliser as I believe this was made mandatory by the labour government a long time ago.
Does anyone know if this assumption is correct and what the Thatcham rating is assuming it has one.
The vehicle is a 2015 build Peugeot boxer.

I've never been asked what Thatcham rating the immobiliser is. They've always just accepted that it is manufacturer standard fitment.

Thanks Paul, my renewal states cat 2 from the camping and caravan club but the caravan and motorhome club have quoted based on there own assumption “ cat2”
However, I take it you agree with me it does have one?
Thanks

Oh yes, definitely has one. Should be evident by key symbol when ignition key turned.

Thatcham publish a list of all vans that have a Category 2 immobiliser from the factory. The Boxer (08 onward) is on it. In fact I tried to think of a van that's sold in the UK that is not on the list - and failed!

[Edit: I should add that as far as I'm aware, thatchamsecurity.co.uk is ~not~ the Thatcham that does the evaluations, but I believe that the list is published by the correct organisation.]

Re: Insurance vs security devices
The Peugeot handbook states the vans have a "thatcham rolling transponder immobiliser" as standard.
I think this means category 2 (electronic immobiliser) as opposed to a category 3 (mechanical immobiliser)
Also page 34 of this list from Thatcham(.org) states category 2
