Has anyone used Strikeback (Vanbitz) Alarm System and if so how have you found it?

Hi Pat we have this system and to date we haven't had any problems, apart from my ignorance when we first got the camper. We had the hab area sensor deactivated because now and then it caused a false alert. But apart from that spot on.Hope this helps..Algy

Algy - thank you for your quick response, we are still considering whether to have the system fitted and we wanted other peoples views.

The alarm system itself is good, we had it fitted to our previous MH a pilote and all was well,so we naturally had the same fitted to our A/S Nuevo ,unfortunately we picked a day when the "B" team were fitting!! It took 8.5 hrs to "fit" when I was told ,as was with the pilote 4hrs! Waiting around at Cornish Farms I enquired why ? from a very young fitter , I was told weve had problems! The "problem" emerged 70 miles later when an alarm and warning light told us we had broken down with nothing ,no starter nothing! Not a nice feeling! Eventually after being low loaded to the nearest dealer and spending 5 days for them to "fix" I was told "someone" hadn't tightened an electrical connection and it effecting the ECU.I by coincidence had a call from Vanbitz as I had expressed interest ina sat system and on describing our problems was told unbelievably that they don't disconnect any thing when fitting an alarm !Perhaps they disturbed a lose connection!!!And that was that!We had done 3500miles before alarm and since 5500miles trouble free so draw your own conclusions to where the lose connection came from!!!

Paul

Sorry to hear that you had major problems when you had the system fitted, sounds as though it was a fault with fitting as you suggest but that the system itself works well now.

Yes system in our  present camper and previous Pilote works perfectly, but there is no way in the world id go back to Vanbitz!!Nothing can describe the feeling of sitting in a 6 month old vehicle that has effectively died because of bad workmanship and I might add being charged a lot of money for the privilege!!Then  being fobbed off with "we don't disconnect anything! "Sorry but just with basic 12V knowledge I don't believe it!!!

Hi ,Its an expensive system and it should be right. I wonder if Paul the owner heard your complaint?
I had mine fitted in 1999. It saved my goods by going off in Spain supermarket.
It gave good peace off mind when we were in the van as well.
regards

We had a strike back alarm on the last vehicle (Broadway) and also on current Pilote. The system is Thatcham approved under Meta alarms and the insurance were more than happy with the certificate provided. All the locker doors are alarmed plus also the bike rack/towing hitch via a switchable loop.

Would not have any other alarm system. Have always dealt with Eddie (the owner) and Ashley

I have had a strkeback alarm fitted on all my vans (5) and never had a problem and no false alarms, regarding Paul Bullocks comments regarding the length of fitting time it all depends on whether one or two fitters work on it, if the workshop is busy you will only get one fitter hence the fitting time but if quiet you get two and it only takes half a day. I would not have any other alarm fitted even though it may take a day to fit.

Id have voted for half a fitter for 17 Hrs!! If they had done the job right! I like you after our first alarm being fitted, woudnt of gone anywhere else, but the faith I had in Vanbitz soon vanished when things went wrong  especially with their way of dealing with the problem, obviously stemming from them!!! The thing is once the Peugeot dealer had put to right the loose connection they were in the "clear" and their attitude illustrated they knew it!!
