2015 Bourton Electric Issues
Just checked MH and I find that the batteries are not charging. I have electric supply from mains hookup to external sock on MH but no power to EC500 or mains sockets, is there something that I am missing between external socket and EC500 that could interrupt supply. When I switch the RD on it does not trip out. and if I press the RCD Test button the RCD does not trip out. MH parked on drive with nowhere to go but would like to keep batteries charged. Any ideas please

You’ve probably checked already but are you 100% sure the EHU supply is good going into the van?

I have supply to plug on both ends of cable so assuming it is making a connection to van, without taking van to bits under seat I can't check.

I’d be looking at the connections an the back of the socket where you plug in the mains lead, maybe you could check where the lead from the socket goes into the RCD for power if you are competent with that kind of procedure? Remember 230 v is dangerous

Is the EC500 switched on? Shutdown switch on left hand side.

What have you done to test this is the case? I'm asking so I can suggest a next step.

Re: 2015 Bourton Electric Issues
I have checked the external cable with a meter and it was showing live, I tried the microwave which wouldn't switch on but the switch was flickering and the microwave wouldn't work. The cable I use on site is in an external locker which I can't open as MH is parked too close to wall, I borrowed a cable from neighbours caravan and my electrics are now working so I can only assume that there was a short or earth leak. all working well now, Thank you all for you help. 'til we meet again on site 'Keep Safe, Keep Well'

Check the connections at both ends of the cable which made the microwave flicker by opening up the plug or socket and pulling at each of the 3 wires individually. One or more of the six ends will probably pop out of its connector. You may even see traces of scorching on a connector. It sounds very much as if a screw has not been fully tightened giving a bad or intermittent connection. If any scorching is severe then replace the plug or socket. In any event cut back any scorched cable.
If all the connections are tight then you may have a break somewhere in one of the cores of the cable itself, perhaps from when it has to be laid across a road on a site. In that case you would need to scrap the cable - but you could retain the plug and socket as spares.
Hope that's helpful
