Air bag fault
My airbag warning light came on and you may be interested in how I sorted it out. I looked at lots of posts, including on this forum and was left quite confused, however I took the van to my MOT garage who diagnosed two fault codes :B0100 and U1726. They said I needed to go to the Peugeot main dealer which I did and was told that they would have to do their own diagnostics (£75). They were not aware that this was a common problem but admitted that someone was bringing their van in the next day with this fault and his bill ,was likely to be about £600+.
After much deliberation and googling I decided to take the bull by the horns and employ the services of Crashdata Ltd and Cartronix. ( I also had this fault with warning lights glowing dimly when cruise control was engaged). I first entered the van and closed the doors then did nothing for five minutes to allow the main ECU to shut down, I then disconnected the battery negative terminal and then proceeded to remove the airbag ECU and the instrument panel. I posted the ECU to Crashdata (£60 +VAT+ recorded return postage in all total £85) Sent on a Thursday received back Saturday -brilliant.
I took the instrument panel to Cartronix by appoinment (£150 inc VAT) , who fixed it whilst I waited 1 hour as promised.
I have now reinstalled said items following the same protocol as removal and hey presto all working fine (so far so good)
The cost of getting this done at the main dealer was going to be in the order of £1000 including the instrument cluster replacement.
The B0100 fault apparently can be triggered by a low battery although I was not aware that my battery was particularly low but I will in future pay closer attention to the status of the on board charger set-up.

We've regularly recommended Crashdata for this fault.

Re: Air bag fault
My next task is to find a way to get the instrument panel to illuminate when the ignition is turned on, not only when the headlights are turned on. Apart from secondary illumination, which I consider a bodge-up, has anyone found the answer?

Re: Air bag fault
Permanent instrument illumination is a feature that now comes as standard with Fiats, but not Peugeots. Some people have tried using a reflector (white paper or aluminium foil) behind the steering wheel to throw light forward onto the instruments.
If you are feeling flush, you could try: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] :easy to fit and look good.

I am sure they do all versions of the Boxer and Ducato.

Re: Air bag fault
Our Peugeot 2019 WXL has the instrument illumination with ignition on and aslo dims them when sidelights/headlights are turned on.

Re: Air bag fault
Thank you Peter, that's interesting. When this pandemic is over I will follow this up with Peugeot, they may now be able to apply a re-program/fix.

Re: Air bag fault
Could you possibly advise where you find maintenance and repair procedures for the Peugeot Boxer? Many thanks, Paul.

Re: Air bag fault
Hi Smithee.
I haven't used a repair manual as such and have mainly relied on forums and google for info etc. But this morning I did a google search for "Peugeot Boxer repair Manual" and it appears that there are a couple of PDF based manuals purporting to give dealer quality info, procedures, and the like. Cost seems to be between £15 - £30. Could be a good investment but it would be useful to know if anyone has experience of these manuals and how useful and accurate they are ?
