Automatic toilet flush filling!!!
A very windy and wet night.....when it rains in Spain....it fills the toilet flush!!!
Because the van is on a slight tilt...rear down and leaning toilet side.....the rain poured off the top and ran down the toilet window into the toilet flush flap.....filling the flush......unfortunately it then overflowed into the van....not good at 11:00 pm.....
A fix I hope with a bit of sticky back draught excluder....good old Lidl.....

Oh dear! Actually, that would be a great mod: when it rains, it fills the WC tank!
Seriously however, I'm a bit mystified about one aspect. I understand how water running off the roof could fall into the filler orifice of the WC tank, if - as implied - the foam seal had perished such that there was a gap. But, having filled the WC tank to the brim, doesn't the excess water then flow out of the orifice and down the external side of the van?
You say it overflowed "into the van". Was that into the cassette chamber, or inside the van into the WC compartment?
Whatever be the case, I hope you've solved it. And thanks for reporting it: I'd never though of checking the seal on the filler cap.

Yes oddly....it came into the van from the unit....I’m still trying to figure out how! Only noticed it because the carpet was wet....still drying it out!

Actually the foam seal between the filler and van is good, there’s no sealer on the flap.....and that’s where it got into the tank!....
When I opened the flap to look......the overfill flooded out!!
I then drained the tank slightly to lower the fill level....the only way I could stop the rain getting in was to divert the flow from the roof!!

Our van had the foam seals replaced under warranty because the adhesive was not up to the job (or some such explanation).Libraryman2 wrote:the foam seal had perished such that there was a gap.
I don't know if your van is fitted with the newer type of seal which was adopted after the problem emerged, but it would be worth asking your dealer before prising open the wallet!! You may also get it, and several other seals, replaced for nowt!

Re: Automatic toilet flush filling!!!
It’s not a seal issue Gromit....not in the sense that it’s the seal adjacent the van........it came through the flap covering the filling point...there’s no seal there as such, it’s simply an overlap of the cover lip!

Re: Automatic toilet flush filling!!!
There should be a foam pad inside the cover sealing onto the actual fill hole.

Ah yes there is....I didn’t know what that was for...well spotted...
