No flushing of loo
Advice anyone?
We've had previous problems with our Thetford cassette toilet when it flushed or did not flush. Of course it worked perfectly when taken in to our local motorhome garage, although we had to flush out pink solid debris. At that time, we could hear the pump making a noise. Everything was then fine with flush working well.
Unfortunately, we took the van away for a couple of days this week. The weather was very cold and to warm it up, we put on the blown air heating and a portable fan heater, which promptly tripped the electrics. Could this have fused the toilet pump? I wasn't aware of the possibility of a new fuse in the toilet waste locker. Currently no noise or vibration from toilet pump when pressing the button.
Thanks,
Liz

Check out the 5 amp fuse. Number 8 in the PDU ,located under the trap door in the wardrobe floor, you will need to bring the draw out .

No flushing of loo
Thanks, Boaby,
We'll have a look at that. It's really helpful having a fellow sigma owner on the forum.
We thought Lower Wensleydale a great location. Shower block a bit of a trek, but nice, non fussy wardens. Woke up to about 3 ins snow Wednesday morning, so walking not an option. Caught the Little White Bus up to Hawes where they'd had much heavier snow fall.
The Pheasant Inn near the site is fantastic. One of those rare traditional, no food establishments with lovely landlord and landlady.
Nice break, with everything bar the flush working!

Re: No flushing of loo
If its not your fuses Liz, you may have to remove the pump at the top of the cistern, not done this myself, however I'm told its not a difficult job.
We didn't get out to the local pubs, spent to much at the auctions.

Toilet flush.
I had this problem last year. Mine was due to pump jamming. We solved this by putting a warm 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water in the empty flush tank and leaving it for a couple of days. This disolved the limesacale caused by hard water to disolve. The pump then started to run ok. Hope it works for you. Also dont put pink fluid in tank, spray into bowl instead, stops the black gunge build up.

Re: No flushing of loo
I've used the correct amount of diluted Pink flush fluid in all,of my cisterns for years without any problems , mould could however build up if mixed incorrectly.
Always flush the cistern out and empty if you intend not to us it for a Period of time, especially over winer.

Re: No flushing of loo
the problem I had one time with the toilet not flushing was that I didn't brim the flush tank. It would only start flushing once I had totally filled the flush tank. All the other times that I hadn't totally filled it flushed fine but just this once it needed the extra water. I have no idea why but the "cure" is now burned into my brain - until the next time I need it.

Re: No flushing of loo
I believe they have finally changed the formula of the pink fluid to stop the black mould - the new formula is labeled Aqua Rinse Plus, if it doesn't have the Plus on the end then it's old stock.

Re: No flushing of loo
We had intermittent problems with the flush and decided it was the build up of the gunge.
However currently the motor has packed in and my husband is in the process of replacing it. It has taken him a while as he keeps finding he needs more parts but seems to be relatively straightforward.

When I had this problem I searched the forums and came up with a good suggestion. A good bang on the top of the unit and it has worked fine ever since.

Re: No flushing of loo
Just had the same problem. Wanting just a small amount of flush water to travel with and not response from the flush other than a whirring. Thinking 'not something else now!' I did a search on here and was resigned to flushing with a bottle whilst away but I tried Dave's (dbroadba) suggestion of topping up the tank and it worked! Thanks Dave.
Now I'll try emptying some out so that the full tank doesn't leak inside!

If you found my original post rather than found my advice above you will have seen my "what this time" comment. These are lovely vans but a fortnight's insignificant niggles reduce you to tears at the slightest new problem.merv wrote:Just had the same problem. Re: No flushing of loo
It's over a year ago since I made the previous post on this topic and had no problems with toilet flush until today (am currently in Scotland.) Same thing..whirring sound..no flush. Again, I followed Dave's (dbroadba) original advice and added more and more water to the flush tank and again it has to be full to the brim before it worked! Posting this to confirm that this solution does work.

Loo flush problem
Hello,
Sorry for late reply - I've been away.
In the end, we had to have a new flush switch fitted. Thankfully, no further problems in this area!
