Removal of Fiamma Canopy / Awning
Hi all,
Sadly one of the legs on our Fiamma awning has broken. I am going to investigate the option to repair it but also might decide now to remove it as we don’t use it much and we have quite some difficulty closing it properly.
Can anybody offer any knowledge of what’s involved to remove it ? DIY job or more specialist ?
Thanks in anticipation.
Rob

There is usually, 2-3 brackets, if you look inside over sliding door and in wall cupboard you should see white plastic covers, these are over the bolts that hold the awning on, it will take two to get it off s it is very heavy.
Holes will require sealing. I think you can buy the Fiamma plates to cover the holes.

If it's not closing easily it probably needs adjusting, the instructions will show how to do this. If you don't have these they're usually available online, if you can't locate them let us know the model and we'll help. WD40 or silicone spray may be enough to solve this, or other lubrication as usually required under maintenance instructions.
The leg should be fairly easy to replace.
If you remove the awning, you will have holes to deal with, probably sealant to remove and the chance that the paintwork colour below will no longer match the rest on a vehicle of this age, so personally I'd only do that as a last resort.

Re: Removal of Fiamma Canopy / Awning
Not sure if you're aware, but the task of removing it, or removing it and the brackets that hold it on, are quite different, if you are referring to the F45 and related series.
Removal of the awning alone is actually quite easy - typically just 2 or 3 stainless screws from the underside through/into the brackets. But, as DM has already said - they are very heavy, so don't try to do it on your own!
You can drive around with the awning removed but the brackets still in place. I admit it maybe looks a bit messy, but it saves carrying most of the weight, and it does of course give you the option to easily refit it when you come to sell the van? I did this with one of my previous vans, and it didn't look toooo bad (and improved the cornering significantly).

I am looking at which parts I need to replace. Agree that removal is not the best option. Cannot though find instructions online for the F45 Plus model. Roger - can you help please
Cheers, Rob
