Awning canopy
I really could have done with the awning over the weekend to provide some shade. I've never had the opportunity to use it before and I haven't thought about how best to secure it to the ground. What would folks recommend as regards pegs and securing straps? It's a Thule Omnistor.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Awning canopy
Depends on whether you have fastening hoops at top of legs or not as there are specific straps for those. Otherwise you can get straps that slide into the fascia groove and as a last choice the universal straps that go from ground to arm across to second arm then back to ground. All about neatness and cost as they all do same job

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there might be specific fixing points or not. I'll have to wind it out a bit and see if there are any loops.

Thurle do there own straps that clip to the top of the leg

Or you can get something like these that slide in the channel on the front awning rail

Links just for showing ,others are available
I have both , the thurle ones are great if you use a wind break in the channel like lillypad make, but I mainly use the second type due to ease of use

Google Motorhome awning leg safety plate Omnistor & Thule. (New Compact Design)
Peg them down and the awning supports can be slid in and out from under the plates using the slot. I use them all the time.

Agreed, these are great. Once fixed to the ground, as said, you can pack up the awnig at night and return it to the same position the following day with minimal fuss. I used them with dedicated Thule tie down straps which fix to the top of the legs, again once nailed down easy to refit. Both used together takes less than 5 minutes to pack up and set up again with no further 'woodpecker' hammering.Caraman wrote:Google Motorhome awning leg safety plate Omnistor & Thule. Re: Awning canopy
I have the Fiamma base plates, they work fine with the Thule awning, i fit a centre stretcher to make the awning rigid, also fit end stretchers in windy conditions. Or when fitting the Thule side rain blockers
