Wild camping website
Has anyone used the wildcamping website that costs £15 for full membership, and then gives details of the wild camping place with directions and photos (lay-bys, pubs, car parks etc). It’s cheap enough, but only if it’s any good, and you can’t try it without paying. Apparently there’s an app you can use. I don’t want to put the full website address as I initially asked this on another forum and I think the over zealous thought police have cancelled my post for some bizarre and unknown reason known only to themselves. But they’ve said nothing obviously, it’s just no longer there! Any advice is welcome from those who’ve used it as full paid up members.

I believe you can download some places without joining but you don't get the comprehensive list. Have you tried Searchforsites that gives wild spots, lay-bys etc as well as campsites.
Links to wildcamping site are not allowed here due some disagreement between owners some years ago.

Aha, I wonder if that’s what’s happened. Perhaps I’ve inadvertently broken an ancient and archaic rule, and they just ‘forgot’ to tell me. To be honest, deep down I wondered if ‘search for sites’ was as good; but I’m happy for someone who uses it to persuade me differently. I’ll probably end up saving the money, I’m already in Britstops. I won’t even bother asking about the disagreement on here, no doubt both sides got on their respective high horses and claimed the moral high ground. Thanks for your help.Paulmold wrote:I believe you can download some places without joining but you don't get the comprehensive list. Been a member on said site since 2004 when you are a full member you can get discounts from certain suppliers and insurance companies. You can download all the poi files for different sat nav units or indeed use the app which opens a map up were ever you are and show what poi's are about. Similar to search for sites but no reviews or pics on it like search for sites but will have more spots on the wildcamping app.

I have used the site referred to. As a confirmed 'free camper' I found it great. If you want to travel and avoid using sites you'll get your money back on your first night out if you're prepared to stop in some unusual places. The wild camping spots are well researched and moderated to a very high level so none will expose you to legal action. As a website it is not in competition with this dedicated AS forum and is a mine of information for those who like to travel both home and abroad without relying on campsite facilities.

You can ask by all means, when ASOF launched we were more than happy for links to wilcamping be posted, however when the owner Phil removed and banned links to our forum we responded with the same.
Why should we promote a ‘Paid Subscription Based Forum’ when they are not prepared to help promote what was at that time a newly launched ‘Free Forum’ if you consider that the moral high-ground then so be it, personally I see it as biased unfairness.
