New roof lights
I have a 2013 Symbol which has the two old style round dome type ceiling lights inside.
The brand new Auto Sleepers now feature modern looking circular downlighter type lamps which I think look terrific.
Has anyone changed the old style for new? And if so, what do I need to do?
Any ideas please?
Stuart

Re: New roof lights
Stuart, do you mean the flat, circular, touch sensitive LED lights? If so, in your shoes, I’d stick with the older and more reliable domed lights despite the swish appearance of the newer ones.
We had a light fail and it cost £50 for a new one whereas the older type would probably have only needed a bulb change.

I do tinwheeler. Sage advise. I did not realise that they were touch sensitive.

Re: New roof lights
What Tinwheeler said, but with the possible exception of the bathroom.
We have a touch sensitive one in there which is better than groping to find the tiny switch on the dome, specially while still half asleep!!
With hindsight I think a motion sensor light is much better again . . . and it's on the list.

On the subject of Symbol roof lights --- Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the fluorescent tubes in the Labcraft strip lights ?
Want to fit -- LED. And what's best cool white / warm white ????
Thanks

Good point about the washroom, Gromit. It’s much easier to flip a hand at the ceiling but I’m not sure it warrants £50. I like the idea of motion sensor.

Re: New roof lights
Mikeval asked about replacing roof lights in a 2000 Symbol. I’m not familiar with your light fittings but when I replaced the under-cupboard lighting in the Kemerton I found the following suppliers had a good range of options for MH lighting:

I replaced the LED fittings that AS had installed because the light they cast was too cold and harsh. I have a bit of a thing about lighting and find that the fittings are often poorly chosen. LEDs are excellent for reducing battery load in a MH but all too often are of inferior quality and cold white by default. I chose warm white LED strip in low-profile aluminium channels and defusers. I made them up myself using components from Ultraled, which was cheaper than the readymade fittings from Atenlighting, but the latter’s products look perfectly fine as far as I can tell.

Cool white is harsh. (Think of new (too) bright white headlights.)mikeyval wrote:On the subject of Symbol roof lights --- Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the fluorescent tubes in the Labcraft strip lights ?

Warm white is friendly. (Think of nice old Morris 1000 headlights.)
But the light output is the same. Same wattage = same light output (unless some tech-wizz wishes to enlighten (!) me!).
4000k is cool, 2700k is warm (ditto).
