Nuevo Roof Vent 2

In an old post (Ron) 2014 it seemed that there is difficulty cleaning the bathroom roof vent on a Nuevo or Lancashire.
Our clean mint Lancashire 2010 model has a double layer vent; the inner cover is slotted through and the outer cover is domed thus providing ventilation at all times. However a clever over centre handle mechanism allows for it to be raised parallel or canted at an angle sideways or fore and aft.
Ours was a little dirty between the layers and the dome had some algae developing around the rim. On inspection found that the arms were held by quality No10 TorQ head screws so decided to have a go. Whole cover with handles easily removed but had to recover it from topside of roof.
Next: Place upside down on none scratch surface and fill to rim with warm soapy water and let it stand for 15 mins.
Poke bottle brush between layers and agitate dirt - very slow but worth it.
Place under running tap outdoors, fill with water and shake - hey, cleaned up nice.

Found one lug of the dome had broken but was able to effect repair with super glue.
Wilko brand applicator pencil for £1 was ideal to get to fracture between layers.

Hope this only needs doing once a year?

Well done, however I've recently been inspired to do the same after viewing You Tube 'Carefree Caravaning' which demonstrates the complete dismantling of the MKP roof light needing T10 and T25 torx keys. So bought relatively cheap Am Teck 9 piece extra long offset Torx set from Amazon for £6. Don't know if I will ever need to use the other seven. 

You are lucky to have the better make of rooflight. The MPK is a fragile beast. However, I like your idea of just taking the dome off and soaking it for a while in detergent.

Thanks for finding You Tube video - must take a look -  should be interesting to see how to remove dome screws with No25 tool.
I could not get No25 Tool Bit near the screw head. Presumed MPK had special modified or shortened tool?
Would be better to drill through all and use button or pan head screws from top retained by locknut underneath.

so no special tools required - did not know of these slim allen key types - only tool bits 6mm.

Thanks for the post about the roof light, had only recently cleaned mine... but.....
After many years of using one I had no idea the toilet cassette came apart for cleaning like that.... never stop learning do we!!
