Blinds open or closed while driving?
Hi, just wondered how other people travel, blinds open or closed. I just have my rear open for mirror viewing only.

All blinds open with me, I think being able to glance over my shoulder through the side windows is a great help when negotiating today's congested roads..

There is a helpful sticker on my front widescreen blind warning me not to drive with them closed (obviously for H&H reasons I have to be told that) the rest I also leave open.

Blinds open, flyscreens closed. Seems to minimise rattles.

All open. It never occurred to me after near 50 years of vanning to close them!
I also keep the Heki blind open and, even when parked up at home, only close it 75% of the way to prevent overheating of the roof light.

Slightly off topic but made me think of the blind guy that did 200mph solo on a 1/4 mile drag strip.
Brave guy, I moved my van 5 foot forward with the front blinds closed once and that was scary enough!

I only drive with the cab blind closed when the sun is low and blinding.

Re: Blinds open or closed while driving?
I've always been a bit unusual.
White van person has a bulk head behind him and therefore his\her view is cab windows and mirrors.
I have roof blinds shut and driver's side blinds shut because I can't see out of them anyway.
I prefer cab as dark as possible to optimize my view of behind using rear view mirror. Not that I can see much out of one square foot obscured by a bike and rack anyway!

Re: Blinds open or closed while driving?
I never really thought about blinds on the move. The one occasion I left the blind closed on the rear skylight it opened with quite a bang on the autobahn in Belgium. It took me a few miles to figure out what went bang. There autobahns are not the best surface and usually find anything not well packed. .

Re: Blinds open or closed while driving?
you do tend to see many caravans on the move with blinds closed. However, I have been advised previously not to keep them in the closed position as it can affect the tensioning springs over time.

Always open. Would never occur to me at all that they should be closed when travelling

As a motorcyclist also, I’d say OPEN to give us bikers a better chance of being seen.

Re: Blinds open or closed while driving?
Has anyone figured out how to get the sat nav screen to display the rear view camera whilst driving by giving it the reverse gear selected signal whilst driving forward? Presumably an override switch attached to the screen would be required.
Would this be legal and affect insurance ?
