CMC- Showers closed but....
I know that CMC showers are closed but are the wash basin cubicles available?
Anyone been to a CMC site yet?
Thanks

Its all on their website...
"All our Club campsites in England are now open. Based on the latest Government guidance issued 8 April, we are pleased to be able to open toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities excluding showers at Club campsites in England which have them. "

The 'which have them' has to be a bit superfluous. I mean, would anyone expect toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities to suddenly, magically appear in sites that have never had them?

Sorry folks- I didn’t make my question clear.
I have read the CMC statement, but this doesn’t clarify if only the hand wash basins are available or the ones in the private cubicles are available too.
Thanks

Sorry, can't comment as have only stated on Welsh sites which don't have toilet blocks open at all yet.

Best ask the CMC. Lots of their sites have only one basin not in a cubicle and that's usually by the hand dryer. So I suspe t the cubicles may be open. But then I can't see any risk difference between a cubicle and a shower. You may even get the answer that some sites have them open and some don't.

Re: CMC- Showers closed but....
Apparently the showers being closed is because they need to be tested for Legionnaires, (got that from a warden).

But that's routine anyway and nothing special for covidPaulmold wrote:Apparently the showers being closed is because they need to be tested for Legionnaires, (got that from a warden).
I suspect closure is due to the aerosol effect of the spray which would enhance the spreading of the virus.

Ah yes, I recall now. They weren't bothering to test for Legionnaires, as they normally do before each season, because they were unsure when they'd be allowed to open the showers and had therefore put off testing 'til nearer the date. That's the difference between showers and washing cubicles. I s'pose both could harbour Legionnaires but showers are more likely to spread it about in droplets. As to whether cubicles are open, that still needs the CMC to say whether they are, or aren't.

Thanks all.
I called the Great Yarmouth CMC site and they confirmed that only their shower cubicles were closed. Their wash basins in private cubicles are open, subject to social distancing of course.
